    Default Empire Wizard

    Hi Guys,
Finished this last week and wanted to share it.
First submission here in quite a while: An Empire Wizard.

    Really big pictures:

I am quite happy about the knife, the robes, and the few areas of skin. The base is the best bit I think and was created as a visual gesture towards John Blanche\'s classic ”Knight Panther” painting.

Not so happy about the red cape – cape was somewhat boring to paint, and the ”scarf” isn\'t a favorite part of the model since it demands too much attention I think.

Thanks for looking – I hope you like him.

Wahoo, the king of old school returns :D

nice work mate, the cloak is nice, i can understand why your not completely happy with it, possibly a few highlights need tweeking on the back.

love the base, is it fine clump foliage with very fine flock sprinkled on top?
looks cool whatever you have used.

Always liked this plastic kit. Lovely, smooth paintjob Jakob. Love the simple choice of colours.
    Base is top-notch.

Thanks for that title. I can appreciate royalty in this sense. :)

In regards to the grass/moss it is made by applying several layers of the finest kind of flock. Three layers of progressive lighter flock. Plus washed and drybrushing.

    - I plan to do a tutorial on making this kind of base in the future.

As always a great work... the old school, the atmosphere and the beautiful metals are confirmed in this truly great mini!

Scholl is a footwear and footcare brand, but the name became synonymous with the sandal-type shoe.

Logan & Generulpoleaxe: I did notice both of you. And being king of either sandals or old school painting is fine for me. :)

oh ... and generulaxepole: good to meet you at GD. The 3 minutes or so talk about the various judging systems was a nice break from walking about waiting for the judges to finished their job. :)

Donga666: Good to meet you too - although I must admit that it is hard to remember everyone from GD precisely since I talk to loads of people during the day. However, I do remember talking to a bunch of nice people when ordering my food.

Well mate, you\'ve always been one of the kings of the mini painting world for me, ever since I saw your exquisite goblin army on that scenic base years ago in White Dwarf, so have the sandals on me as a present :D

I didn\'t realize that my goblins made it into WD. Was this the US-edition? I never saw it in the UK version. Strange...

He might have seen it in the \'How to paint Wargames Armies\' book put out by GW. That\'s where I saw it... and drooled... a lot.

I don\'t know where I saw it but the army is lovely :D

Slightly more on topic, the Mage is really cool. Very true to John Blanche artwork. Can\'t wait to see a tut on that basing style!
