The Sticky thread - submit links

Ok. The ambition of this thread is for it to form the basis for an extensive forum-sticky. It has come from a discussion with Cedric (green stuff) and others that cmon has a wealth of resources that are not easily navigated.

What I want is links to old threads on techniques, colours etc. that may be of interest for any painter. Depending on how many links we end up with I will split it into topics. I don\'t think we need to limit ourselves to only cmon, but the criteria of selection should be that it is really usable, things that have helped you in painting. I will update this thread continuously as people post links! :)

I\'ve just thrown a few things in there because I need to run. But it will be nice to see what you come up with when I am away! :D

faq is a good idea, but it must be obvious, for example it took me years before i noticed the search option, as it\'s so small and tucked out of the way

also, surely the point of a sticky is that you sticky it?!

A Sticky \'Glossary of Terms\' would be very useful (and possibly contentious). No more \'what\'s a wash/juicing/glazing\' etc etc etc...

@freak: this is not the actual sticky thread, this is the pre-sticky thread whose relevant material will be copied to the real sticky thread. I will sticky the sticky thread. But maybe I should sticky this pre sticky thread as well until the other one is sticked. Hmm.. or maybe I should stick to my plan.

You have a point about the articles.. but even that part is not that easy to navigate. A reiteration of the most useful articles with a better categorisation would still fill a purpose, don\'t you think? There will definitely be a judging part being done of what is most relevant and what is not. At this point of time just submit everything that is useful and we\'ll see how it can be organised.

@Donga: Both for the answers to the FAQ and the final selection of links and sticky thread I will stand as responsible so you have someone to blame, but everything will be up for discussion at any time. I am nerdy enough to have very long discussions about the topics.. ;) And somehow I think Einion is too..

Hmm seems to be a lot of CMON members work posted there and no sign of acknowledgement to the painter other than the odd few with their names as part of the photo i.e. Necrotales, Crackpot, DragonForge etc but I also recognise a lot of other CMON members including a few of Mark\' (Krom1415) work and thats just the first page...

So if you have some specific thing you want info on that\'s not here try a search yourself; just because it\'s not above doesn\'t mean there isn\'t something on it and you don\'t know until you try.

haha.. I thought you were being suspiciously quiet. Well done!

Don\'t worry, I will do some disclaimers as well and a roadmap to the search button. This is not only or even mainly so that people won\'t ask the same questions. I think this will be valuable for everyone.

I mean the \"correct\" responses change all the time when new information arises. I wouldn\'t want the sticky thread to become a \"kill all the discussions about painting black\" thread. But just a tool for people to get a frame of reference that might help them ask better questions.. which might become a new link in its on right. The Sticky thread will always be a work of progress.
