Indeed! Looks nice to have a somewhat chrome effect using non-nomnomnom techniques. I love metallics. ^^

Got the Dreadknight finished. I've also been building lots and lots of dwarves... (There's 234 models in this new army. For any of you who remember the Imperial Fist and Bretonnian armies I painted a couple years back, this is for the same client. All will have very high quality paint jobs). I've also got to hammer through more of a Skaven army as well as a couple squads of Blood Angels. Back to full time painting. Though I still haven't had much motivation to paint my own stuff. Perhaps in time...

Thanks for the comments and support, guys. Feel free to ask any other questions/color recipies if you have any.

    Happy painting,

Thanks for the reply on the color recipe, Matt. Good luck with the Dwarves, sounds like quite a task, I hope you will post your progress. I am not a fan of the Dreadknight, or whatever, but you have done a great job on it. Makes me want to paint a Grey Knight.

Your Grey Knights are really good, and they helped me see a little of what I'm doing wrong with my own- I'm doing the metallics with some washes as well, but I haven't been able to get the kinds of transitions I want. After looking at your work and your recipe I think I'm just being a little too liberal with my wash application.

Great job- I know your clients will be very pleased.

Yeah not the biggest fan of that DK model either. Not pleasing to the eye and even less pleasing to build.

Got a preview of the new Blood Angels stuff. The client wants the Death Company to have magnetized backpacks, so they can have either normal or jump packs. Bit of extra work but the customer is always right!

Magnets finally came in the mail today. I ordered them from K&J Magnetics. Good prices but the shipping was a little slow.

    Until next time, happy painting...

Also forgot to mention that I have created a painting blog for my commissions which you can find here: http://mattsterbenz.blogspot.com/

I will probably still update this one, but not as often as the blog. So check there first!

Phwoar... that's some bright red on those DC, it hurts my eyes, my eyeees!
But very lovely paint job though. I've magnetized mine as well, to switch between jump packs and normal back packs. In-game, those black buggers are hugely expensive when equiped with jump packs. i came to 555 point for a 10-man unit... that's worth a small skirmish force... :S

Kat, what'dya build? Too bad it's not Blood Angels though. I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed...

Great looking stuff, Matt. I am amazed at the speed and quality. I am also amazed at how much of a difference the backpack makes for the overall look of the Marines. Without it, you really notice how ridiculous the shoulder pads are! Anyway, I will be trying to watch the blog, thanks for posting.

That is just amazing. That NMM is sick. I hope you are able to finish him. I want to see how you do the horns.

EDIT: When you started adding the purple for the lighting, how did you go about it? Did you use very thin paint and layer it on, or did you add it to the base green color? It sounds like a noob question, but the effect looks more subtle than most OSL, so I am curious.
