Unlimited width pics, max file size increased

CoolMiniOrNot now supports pictures of unlimited width, and file size has been increased to 1024kb.

The way this works is images are still restricted to 650 pixels wide on the page, but will be stored at whatever width you uploaded them at. While browsing, if you see a

icon, it means that clicking the image will automatically bring up the full sized image for your viewing and voting pleasure.

Do note, the 1meg file size limit is still a hard limit, so do try to keep image compression reasonable if you are uploading pictures. Remember, pictures that are too large may actually hurt your score! :D

I would suggest that you keep the max width of your pictures to under 1200 pixels so that viewers will not need to scroll horizontally to view your miniatures in all their glory.

Great addition Chern :)!

However, I\'d like to signal what seems to be a \"poster\" side effect. I\'ve been getting a series of pics (the link I PMed you for another side effect is one of them) that contain several different views, each one side by side, instead of one below the other like what has been the trend lately. Each individual view is around 600 pixels wide. And the whole shows up full size.

I know you\'ve warned about large width pics and the effects on scores, but in this case as it\'s not really necessary to have a horizontal layout; could the moderators \"suggest\" to the (what seem to be new) posters to reconsider their layout so we don\'t have to scroll to see all the views?

We do.
There\'s a thread Avelorn created in the News Items we use as a reference to point them at.
Not everyone pays attention though.
