Thread: Tee's Official WIP

  1. #1

    Default Tee's Official WIP

I moved the original pics and log down to better make room for updates and Now that I got my hands on a real camera and not my damn cel camera. I took some pics of the Iron Warriors Dreadnought i'm currently working on.

    front

    rear

    side

    side-2

I will try and figure out how to take better pics that show more of the detail. The more i used the zoom
it would make the pics blurry

I also need some help from you guys. I am kind of lost at what to do with the back of the Leg shield plates.
I don't think painting them gold would look good and I think painting them Black might not be a good idea
either? Any advice would be awesome.

The arrow HERE in this pic is what I am talking about!

Thanks again for looking and advice/comments.

Here are some pics of the stuff I picked up.

I spent the last hour + cutting everything off the space marine sprue.

I plan on starting on the first mini sometime tomorrow. I hope to have
the scanner up and working as well so I can post some of the sketches
    I made.

Not quite sure what that last pic is mate, I know what it looks like, but I'm fairly sure you didn't go out and buy a couple of scale turds on sticks

Edit: Those are tools you made, that will teach me not to read the post properly.

I agree Rugne and Freakinacage when i look at them they look a lot like turds.
But they feel good. I managed to get the scanner working and scanned a
couple sketches. Let me say first. I am not a artist so they are kind of lame.
Also the scanner software that came with it sucks.

Moving original topic here so I can better update SIP LOG.

I am sorry I have not been updating the thread as much as I should. I decided I wouldn't log
everything I buy or tools I make. Instead I am going to keep the thread to the work I am
doing. Right now I am working on a Iron Warriors Dreadnought. So far I made the base.

I am trying rust effects for the first time. Also I am working on my freehand skill.

I really like how the sign came out and am happy with the base.

I started working on the lower/legs of the dred.

Sorry for the crappy pics. the only camera I have is on my cel.

I will see if I can get a friend to let me use their camera and take better pics.

Thanks again for looking and advice/comments.

Well since I’ve been on coolminiornot I have noticed my work
was getting better and that I am even more into the hobby now.
Maybe that also has to do with me being up in Idaho and not
having a lot to do. So I am re-re-staring the mini hobby.
Since all my stuff is still down in California and it doesn’t look
like I will be getting any of it soon. I have to start all
over again. So I decided that since I am interested in
sculpting as well I would make a WIP/LOG of what I am buying
since I am broke I am going to be cheap. LOL. Lucky for me
my new job is close to an ACE hardware, Harbor Freight, and
a Jo-Ann that’s going out of business. I plan of taking
    advantage of that.

So far I picked up some Sculpey Premo from Jo-Ann for $2.50.
I played a little with it and made 2 tools. I did this so I
could get used to the sculpey and get an idea of how cooking
    it worked out.

I went to Harbor Freight last night and got a set of files
and some tools to work with for sculpting for less than $9.00.

Tonight I picked up some sculpey, brushes, containers, and
hobby knife. From Michael's for less than $17.00

I also picked up a box of chaos space marines and normal
    space marines. $70.00

I plan on making a Chaos Space marine army. Ive been doing
some sketching for a little bit on Ideas I want to make.

I will do my best to keep this WIP up to date.
I will start posting pics of what im working on and what
    sculpting I do as well.

    Thanks for reading and advice.

I tried to make a mold of one of the marine shoulder pads. It didn't work out so good.

So I going to give it another go. I am also going to start cleaning up the parts to make
the first marine. I hope to post pics later today.

Worked on my second try at making a mold for the shoulder pad. I'm going to try and see
if I can cut it so I can take the shoulder out once its made.

I went out this morning to the thrift store to see what I could find.

    I got a desk lamp, $3.00
    cloth covered floral wire 0.75
and a wind up clock $1.99

I also gave up on making a mold for shoulder pads and just started
    making them by hand.

First I made a few little drops of clay.

Then I baked them. after baking them I let them cool then cut
one in half and started coring out the center to make it look
    like a standard shoulder pad.

Sorry for the bad pics I only have my cel phone to take pic with right now.

Thanks again for looking and advice/comments.

I think you really need some better photos, right now they remind me of what the world looks like after half a day of drinking:P They're so out of focus it's impossible to say anything at all about what it is you're working on.

    Default Update 01-30-2010

I got sometime to work on the dred lastnight and today.
I think I am 98% done with the base and legs.

I also started working on the back. This is my first time trying rust and battle damage.

Sorry bout the pics of the back piece. I tried to zoom in on it but it just got worse.

    Default update 02-06-2010

Sorry I haven't had much of any updates.

I added some stuff to the back engine plate. and played a bit more with rust effects.

I also started work on one of the arms. I stole the idea of the flail from Lemmingspawn.
His Iron Warrior army is amazing.

I have been trying to work on it slowly because I would really like it to come out nice.
I still have a lot of learning to do when it comes to blending and shading.

I have been looking online here and on google on how to do shading. I found a lot
of good stuff but am having problems wrapping my head around it.

Thanks for looking and any comments.

    Hello Tee999,

Well unfortunatelly most of the picture are very onfocused. But what I see on the focued ones, i reaaly like. Especially the last ones. These daggers look very wreid.

    Greetings, Taggi
How do you know, that Taggi has been assimilated to borg: "Rezitanz fiutail ist."

Sorry for violating the english language.

Please rate my comments, even if there is critism in it, as a personal point of view. I do not have the absolute truth in minature painting and every word said by me is only a suggestion, that may be thought over or simple ignored. So, happy painting!

    Freak and Cheelfy
Thank you for the comments on the Flail. I really can't take
much of the credit for it. Lemmingspawn made them
way before I did. I really did like his Idea so I made some.

    Taggi
Thank you for your comments. When I started this WIP
thread I was taking pictures with my celphone
Now that I have a camera and after looking on-line
and on CMON I can take pics of my progress in focus.

I plan on doing more work on the flail arm tonight when I
    get home.

Thanks for looking and any comments.

i would suggest thinning your paints a little more. some of it seems a little thick (now that it's in focus!)

    Default Update 02-16-2010

Sorry for not getting any updates. I have not had a lot of time.
I ended messing up the arm I was working on so I had to redo the
tips on the flail. Sometimes bad things are good. I like the new tips
better than the blades I had on before. I have not painted them
yet I plan on getting the arms finished this week.

    Enough talk on to pictures.

    arm with new tips.

las cannon arm I started painting.

    pilot of dread.
