That's a lot of heads there. You certainly won't be lacking for anything to paint in the near future. The yellow heads turned out nice and bright.

You know there's a wicked mold line though on the one devastator guy's foot. And he's sticking it out to show you.

Cheers guys! yeah, that's two squads worth of devastators there. Luckily it goes pretty fast as they're small. The camera does tend to enlarge any imperfection though, that mold line on the foot is hardly noticeable on the real model. Insidious as mold lines are, they only tend to materialize after the drybrushing has been done. There are some more, here and there on the models, but I tend to ignore them. ^^

I did some more work on the helmets this afternoon. I drybrushed the helmets with some pure Skull White and then I gave the devastators three washes/glazes with blue ink, with a little bit of black and thinned by some water, about 2:1. The yellow ones received a white drybrush as well and then two washes with sepia ink, with a little bit of devlan mud, and water.

The camera does show the drybrush in a rather harsh fashion, but then it's also some ridiculously close close-ups of a tiny bit. The effect does look a lot softer on the model and the blue appears much deeper as well. When the lighting conditions are a bit better I'll take some more pics. It's a bit too sunny atm for good model photgraphy.

Yeah, we'll forgive you this time since you seem to be painting them 20-30 at a time. Still loving that yellow. You need to do some Imperial Fists or something.

Yeah the yellow turned out great. How long does it take you to paint an army?

Ah, Imperial Fists, the Emperor Space Canaries. Send 'm in first and if they don"t come back up, don't go in yourself... Hmmm... Maybe a good idea if/when i paint some assault squads... have a yellow sarge, with the excuse of it being a heraldic armour, or even a prestigious gift from the Imp Fists themselves...
I remember a short story from a few decades ago in White Dwarf where a terminator Squad of the Blood angels had one heavily chipped Ultramines armour. The backstory was that the BA recovered the suit of armour from a Space Hulk, and the Ultramarines let the Angels keep the armour as a gift for such a heroic action. In honour of the Ultramarines, the BA decided never to repaint the armour, so over the years, half of the paint had come off...

Hmmmm time to paint an army... well, I started this one last year and so far I've two vehicles at 90% and one Tac. Squad at 90%. So not exactly speedy... although I did finish some other projects in the meant time...

    The army so far is:

    Land Raider Crusader, 90% finished
    Razorback, 90%
    Baal Predator/Razorback/Rhino (yay magnets!), undercoated
    3 Land Speeders, magnetized, undercoated
    Tac Squad, 90% finished
Dev Squad, basecoated, ready for detailing
    Dev Squad, assembled
    10-man Terminator Squad, undercoated
    10-man Death Company, undercoated
5-man Command Squad, basecoated, ready for detailing
5-man Sanguinary Guards, basecoated, ready for detailing,
    3 Dreadnoughts, old models, finished
1 Converted captain in terminator, old model, semi-finished.
1 Converted Sanguinary Priest in term. Armour, old model, semi-finished

I've still god loads of really old models stored away somewhere, so I could ramp it to a very big army but the goal here is just to paint this up as a compact force made of mostly newly painted stuff.

Yeah, I have to ramp up my tempo if i want to get this done in a period of months instead of years... That's why I'm painting them with mainly drybrushing techniques, some speed is waranted here.
Next little side project for this is to cook up some some stuff to print on decal paper. lots of black blood drops, as I intend to make them 5th company (mainly just for the black blood drops), and some strips of mumbo-jumbo to put on the scrolls, name plaques, and cloth pieces.

You'll be lucky to get a plastic spork, never mind anywhere near a paint brush.

Looking back, those heads do look like an ad for chuppa chups at a glance.
