One of the best ways to market a product is by controversy and KD pulled it off beautifully with this mini. There are alot of places online discussing this mini and it is definitely bringing much exposure to KD in general.

As for the mini I think it is brilliant! It is totally Giger-esque and its use of erotic degradation is creepy and fits the theme of the miniature line perfectly. I wish I knew it was coming out sooner so that I could have actually purchased it. Not I have to resort to pestering Poots hoping that if I bug him enough he will send me one. Morbidly perverted because of its displeasing interpretation of matronly care and graphic nature yet charming and comforting because of the creatures purpose, it is clearly unique and revolutionary in my opinion. Although the phase "A picture is worth a thousands words" is meant for pictures I definitely think it applies to this mini.

Maybe Poots is ahead of his time with his mini collection but I am glad his company came out during my interest in the hobby. Hopefully more companies begin to think outside the box after seeing minis like this.

In issues like this you have to think of general trends and tendencies. Show enough violent rape porn to enough people, and someone's going to turn into a rapist who otherwise wouldn't have done. And all the others will shout "hey, I wanna keep my rape porn, because I'm not a rapist!" And what kind of effect size (eg, what percentage of your sample size turns into rapists) is big enough before people are willing to do something about it?

Anyway, the problem is that things like objectification are hard to pin down and quantify.
lol now thats a hoot since when did watching porn turn a person into a rapist, thats a crock of bullshit bud according to the justice dept in 79 there where 2.8 rapes for every thousand people and in 2004 it was down to .4 per thousand, what big thing happened between 79 and now.... the interwebs and whats the internet for PORN oh n minis an stuff. Sorry to pop your wad but porn leads to less people being horny and frustraited which leads to less rape.... so in closing porn is good everyone (except those under 18 lol yeah right) indulge in some porn it's good for ya.

Some folk are born bad or more accuratly born with seriously f*cked brains and do some crazy shit but blaming things like porn just takes away from the real causes for the occurance of sex crimes most likely I'd say homes with abusive fathers (specially toward the mother) poverty, lack of education, and a lack of economic options not to mention hosts of mental problems, all things that leed to crime, violence, instability, and poor choices.

As for this frickin thing I spose I can see some giger in it but it reminds me far more of something that would be lingering around in the corner of the hellraiser guys mind. It's a pretty cool sculpt if not highly creepy and a lil disturbing but it's a game piece not art as previously mentioned and even as art shit whatever theres been a ton of classical works of art that are degenerate violant twisted and disturbing look at some of bosch's work or crap like the rape of the sabine women thats twisted degrading crap that is sexually perverse as well as being considered classical historically important works of art, lol didn't we talk about that with the life sized miniatures and the dead woman (yeah I flip flopped lol). Oh well cool mini look forward to seeing some of the twisted paintjobs that get smacked on it, will I buy one - no, but I bet alot of crazy hentai fans are drooling for more to be produced. Atleast it looks like a demonic monster truly creepy and nightmarish instead of the standard red cow thats pissed with a big axe kinda demon. Now if they would just make a choir boy for the preacher the creepiness could be complete.

As for titties n minis, come on the number one subject of all time to paint emulate and inspire art of all kinds is nice naked ladies with boobies all on display, followed by I guess landscapes so if minis are gonna head in a direction I vote for boobies.... boobies before windmills for certain.

It is still a completely weak argument that you havent backed up with any facts at all. And in fact rape porn would be far more prevalent now as well so Friars point makes perfect sense.

ermmm friar, lets not get into a discussion regarding the virtues of porn because i get a sneaky feeling you watch a hell of a lot of it and may be a tad biased. :P

back to the wet nurse...it's creepy looking. some people like being shocked by it, some dont... matter of fact almost everyone posting here has raised an eyebrow and realised that it kinda flies in the face currently accepted depictions of weird creatures (when it comes in mini form). You obviously like that it does that...I however think it has totally gone overboard... wayyyyy too graphic.

look just because something has been made doesnt mean a bunch of people arent going to go out and copy cat it. take a look at henry: portrait of a serial killer. bunch of ppl were up in arms about it, especially with the rape scene in it. i almost lost my lunch over that one. but here is the thing, no one, has ever been arrested for doing the things henry did, or for "copycatting." ppl are more likely to do the same thing from movies when its not to that level of degradation. for example, five women who re enacted a scene from i think, "set it off" where they robbed a bank. i think the thing is that when things get tooo gross or wrong, ppl generally have a shut off switch. just because i played mortal kombat in 1994 doesnt mean i dont want to start killing people with a bicycle kick.

The mistake you're making is assuming that just because there's no copycatting, then it has no effect. It's a cumulative effect, each bit adding to the next, which is why it's so easy for people to scoff at the idea and say that there's no effect at all. You have to look at longer-term and larger samples.

You guys want facts? Fine, here's some about the perennial favorite, media violence: http://archpedi.ama-assn.org/cgi/content/full/160/4/348 Summary: exposure to violent imagery predicts increased aggression and decreased helping behavior. The effect is more pronounced in adults. Yes, the correlations were small-to-modest, which is why we haven't all destroyed each other years ago, but the effect is there. It's insidious, cumulative, and while it does not affect everyone, it's still too big to be ignored.

lol watch it hell you obviously haven't been to www.FriarsGoneWild.com yet but errrr well I'm married so that should answer that one.

Once again there hasn't been any substantial evidence that screwwy images violence or not does dick. It's the same bullshit argument that goes against rap and violent video games, school shootings nothing to do with video games, porn that is rough or nasty doesn't create rapists, and the teletubies no matter what Fallwell says won't turn you into giant primary colored poofter.

Kent state happened before GTA oh snap
Cologne School Masacre in 64 no violent video games or movies around just an old bastard who turned a pesticide sprayer into a flame thrower
Texas University also in the 60's shit pong wasn't even there yet to inspire violent ping pong
Bath school disaster was in 1922 40 some folk blown up by a disgruntled former school board member, I spose that was the hand crank version of bomberman.

As far as porn any porn skinamax or hardcore nutty rough crazy shit, there is no evidence that it turns folk to rapists yet there is shit loads about how much the occurance of sexual assults has decreased.

    Bullshit is bullshit
    People make their own choices
Blaming media is a balless act that does nothing but take responsibilty away from the criminal and blames some made up chunk of bullshit.

Oh and yodels to kingdom of death props man for having the balls to do something crazy and twisted go for it and for lack of a better phrase "let your creative juices flow"

an in closing watching porn is good but making porn is even better

I usually tend to stay away from discussions like this, mainly because I know that my views are a lot more liberal than most and that htey tend to trigger quite some negative responses. But I couldn't stay away from this. Gearhead, what you are pointing at is utter and complete gibberish. Violence in media and the effects thereof has been a life-long debate and there are equally as many papers and reports written that point towards both sides of that coin. In my world that proves absolutely nothing, you've got two camps, one that says violence in media makes us more violent and one that doesn't.

Here are a bunch of reports that show both sides:
    http://www.surgeongeneral.gov/librar...er4/conc4.html

    http://www.magicdragon.com/EmeraldCi...cphil.html#end

    http://www.aclu.org/free-speech/aclu...ter-violent-te

    http://www.elsevier.com/authored_sub..._Bartholow.pdf

And here is a list of more:
    http://culturalpolicy.uchicago.edu/e...eo-games.shtml

People with tendencies towards deviation will always exist, no matter how the world looks around them. What is currently 'wrong' or 'shocking' is nothing but mere fashion. 70 years ago you could get shot for being gay, roughly 1500 years ago it was a sign of wealth if you had a boy butt to pound every now and then.
Same with violence. Today we frown upon killing as something bad and disgusting, 1500 years ago death and mutilation was the most popular form of entertainment money could buy.
And this is not something that has become 'better' due to us becoming more civilised, both my examples are of ancient Rome, the culture we still today revere as one of the most civilised ones to date.

The reason art and entertainment is once again growing more and more sexual and violent is simple, we are once again turning more and more liberal towards it and what deviates intrigues. Artists have always tried to shock or intrigue and will always try to no matter what happens, that is the nature of art.

Being exposed to violence and sex does not make one more violent or sexual, what it does is numb us down and make us care less about it. Reading on the news every day that someone has been shot won't make me to go out and shoot someone, it makes me stop caring that people get shot. This is bad, absolutely, but there is another side to it as well.

How good would a surgeon be if he found the sight of people getting cut up revolting? Or a porn actor/actress that couldn't stand genitalia? They are, compared to 'ordinary' people, indifferent towards it just because they have been so exposed to it, how many of the rapists or the people that are performing other kinds of abuse are surgeons or porn actors?

If we weren't shocked or intrigued by sex and violence there wouldn't exist any art about it and there's the simple fact.

Interestingly, a point I touched on before this statement. It is what it is. Objectifying it isn't getting anywhere else.

Picking up on the coat tails of the media argument ect. You do (and I hope you really do) realise, rape murder, degredation and all that happy stuff isn't a new invention, right? Just as much was going on in the 50s as is now. Now I hear the argument "But no one heard about that kind of stuff in the papers, it was never on the news", no , it wasn't largely. That was a time where familiy values and polite society was a big deal, i'm sure the Browns didn't want to hear about the young woman that was raped and murdered just down the street. Unheard of. These days, however, attitudes have changed towards news and the world at large. Newspapers and general media capitalize on these stories now more than ever. Sex sells, violence sells, it's all more revenue to feed the media machine, if they can wring a story out of it, they'll do it. They'll "sensationalize" it to sell more copies, nothing's out of bounds. The media is also very fond of scapegoating, i'm sure we've all seen the usual suspects; Because someone saw something in a movie, because of a particular video game etc, and it's these things that people take to led facts to an argument largely. It boils down to "Well I know this for a FACT because the media told me", and let me tell you, the media (as a no brainer) holds a massive sway on popular opinion. That doesn't in any way make anything they print or televise a substantive fact.

In fact, the media informs me it's only a matter of time before Uber does, in fact, bycicle kick someone to death.

Point is, the media has only served to bring the evils of human nature to the spotlight and keep the good shit largely out of it. A complete reversal in standards due to social change, not the fact people have suddenly decided to go on mass murder and rape fests fr the past 3-4 decades due to movies and disturbing pornography.
I have a cunning plan...So cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a Weasel...

You both make good points, Chrome and TBS. One principle I'm trying to emphasize is that, with anything, be it treatment, medication, or risk factor, there are going to be people who are going to have a certain outcome regardless, and those to whom it will make a difference. Yes, there are going to be creeps who go crazy no matter what you do to either prevent or cause it, and there are those who will not, no matter what amount of crazy you throw at them. What you want to look at is how many people will it actually push over the edge? That's the vulnerable group. Again, there are hundreds of different factors at work, so it's all but impossible to point at one and say "See, that's what did it!" But repeated exposure to messages can have lasting effects. Heck, in a single experimental session, women can be induced to respond less favorably on body- and self- satisfaction surveys just by having them look at a few fashion models. As has already been pointed out, if media didn't influence the way we think, it would have gone out of business ages ago.

Yes, violence and whatnot have been around for ages. What media imagery can do is exacerbate the situation. Again, you look at the vulnerable group. I work on a daily basis with people who have been on the short end of this sort of thing, and it ain't pretty. You try working with someone who's been a victim of rape, or systematic physical abuse, or any number of other ills, and see how your views change. These problems will never go away, but there are things we can to do reduce them. Trouble is that there's too much money in them, so no one wants to hear it.

The point is exactly that, there's too much money to be had to make a willing change. It's not surprising that companies and businesses keep throwing this stuff out there to keep up with their counterparts, knowing that publicizing the "fluffy bunny and rainbow" stories will be ultimately detrimental to their business. In short, the medias business has become misery. Human morbid curiosity seems to be so prevalent these days (due to more exposure of materials such as these), the machine's in a full circular cycle more or less.
I'm by no means trivializing things like rape and murder, i've had the misfortune to have to deal with these things personally on more than one occasion so i'm aware of just how far one act itself can destroy dozens of people at a time. It has to be said that the medias handling of such things is far from sensitive most of the time, however, and that lends to general public opinion about these subjects, regrettably.

You are now my personal hero. If my money helps tearing down the fancy world of larger than life heroes that always prevail you shall have lots of it. Bought the nurse already, and I am hoping we can see more (sexually) disturbing stuff from you.

Not gonna repeat what I have written here: http://www.coolminiornot.com/articles/5080 regarding the rest of the discussion.

It still strikes me as odd that violence is cool but something like this has people freak out - then again, I am coming from a very liberal country when it comes to sex (but as some of you might know from several "Banned in Germany" advertisments in the early days of computer gaming we are damn conservative when it comes to over the top violence) and I personally prefer p*ssy over powersword any day.

"There is nothing that arouses a stronger response in human beings than either sex or violence. A mixture of the two is very powerful indeed." ~ Hideki Takayama (creator of the Overfiend-movies, if you actually want to see a good apocalyptic movie with sexscenes -> Legend of the Overfiend and the sequel Legend of the Demon Womb are still the best I have ever seen - everything after them basically sucked ;D)
