Default [Sculpting] Looking for step-by-step guides (with pictures!)

I'm looking to try my hand at scupting but would like to at least see how the process normally unfolds. I've seen a few guides out there but I'd like to see something in-depth and comprehensive with plenty of pictures. Any recommendations?

EDIT: OK, I re-discovered the articles section - it has been awhile since I frequented this site - and found some good ones there (like Gael's knight tutorial). If anyone has any favorites or non-CMON resources, please feel free to post. Video would be great! Thanks.

Well I have some green stuff that I use to assemble minis with, so I was going to start with that. I also have a small square of Fimo, so might use that (I think that is often used for larger sculpts?).

As far as subject matter, relatively traditional fantasy stuff. Characters, monsters, etc.

Have you checked out the Sculpt-Along sub forum? It seemed to fizzle out but there are a lot of pics & plenty of tips for beginners in there...

We have 4 videos covering Fimo/GreenStuff. Also, another on the way with Tre Manor. http://www.miniaturementor.com/painting_tutorials.

Look on YouTube, lots of decent sculpting content there now (much of it showing people working with polymer clays, but a lot of it is adaptable to any sculpting medium).

It's probably hoping for too much to get truly in-depth and detailed video that really shows you everything from start to finish (takes too long apart from anything - anyway, you want to watch 2hrs of work progressing at a snail's pace?) for free. But you can piece together a useful understanding of a common/typical procedure - from smooshing on fresh putty through to the final touches done when the putty has nearly finished hardening off - from various sources which you can then start experimenting with, to see how things work in practice. I would stress that you really have to put the time in using your tools & putty to get a feel for how things work in practice; even if you had a sculpting teacher right there showing you stuff, where it looks really simple and easy to do, your hands still have to do the work.

I would recommend you start with conversions or doing non-critical parts, and then move to sculpting something from scratch as lots of people find this less intimidating to begin with and it can help with not becoming overwhelmed early on:
