    Default "Outnumbered" - Cthulu+Zombies Diorama :)

    Hy there.

    Fittingly I did finish my latest project at Halloween and I also managed to make some pictures already.

    The title of this diorama is "Outnumbered" and was heavily inspired by the TV series "The Walking Dead".
    The Cthulu-Theme of the dungeon came to my mind as I thought about a motive for the banner. It may be a sick combination - Zombies+Cthulu - but what the heck!
    I like it. Maybe a ceremony for the old ones spinned out of control and turned the clansmen into zombies, who knows...
    BUT whatever it was, our brave hero got himself into quite a difficult situation here. Watch your back!!!

    The miniatures are from Redbox Games (barbarian) and Mantis Games (zombies). I had to convert the zombies a little bit (especially the crawler and the decapitated one)
    but since these are plastic miniatures it was quite easy. There are very view zombie miniatures out there which are quite scary, most of them just look funny. :/
    I also ordered some of the new zombie miniatures from Redbox Games, but I am still waiting for my delivery so I went with the Mantis Games zombies.

    The diorama is like always build completely from scratch, mostly out of modelling plaster. I also tried some new things this time
    (like casting the cthulu skulls or heavily using pigments) and so this project was quite fun. I did this project without any competition timeline so it was quite easy going.
    To be honest, I was quite amazed how "quick" (exactly 2 months) I managed to finish this big diorama. It is now my biggest diorama I built so far but I think I will go
    smaller on the next projects, otherwiese I will run out of place in my display cabinet.

    So, I hope you like "Outnumbered" and feel free to vote (http://www.coolminiornot.com/291051) and comment! Would love to hear what you think of it, what do you like, what do you dislike.

    Best regards

    This is outstanding work :-)
    "we reach for the stars, forever looking to the heavens, our minds filled with wonder and the glory of the cosmic all; stretching the boundries of human knowledge and securing the solar system for the Human Species out there beyond the final frontier so one day our decendants will be as gods!
    You hold our hands so we don't blunder into things........and do the photo shop.

    Crawlers are always creeping up on my rear! Great work, that dungeon is just wow. It doesn't seem like he's "outnumbered" enough though, I feel like there should be a few more zombies, you know, maybe 3 to 5 more in the door and hall/room on the side. As is, looks like he's got a really good chance to take those 3 and a half zombies down and get away. I realize it would be lots of work to add more zombies for what is a very minor issue.

    Is anyone else really flippin' annoyed that season 2 is only 8 episodes? Didn't the season 1 finale have 8 million viewers at the first and over 4 at the second showing the same night? Sheesh...not a big risk to sign them up for a full length season is it? But that's a little off topic, I apologize.

    Thanks guys.

    @QuietiManes
    Yeah, maybe some more zombies would have been nice, but I paint very slowly so I was happe to finish this 5 zombies in an acceptable time.

    @Kris370
    Well I posted a step-by-step for the banner on facebook, but I can link the images here as well. Here you go...

    I absolutely love this. I think the scene has wonderful tension, it seems like more zombies will come through the archways at any moment. I can't simply choose a favorite aspect. The Banner, OSL, and little touches like cobwebs are brilliant. Did you do the webs with cotton fibers? I'm so interested in working with them one day. Thanks for sharing and a huge thanks for the Tutorials. I can't wait to see more from you.

    Wow! Amazing stuff! If I were to offer some constructive criticism it would be regarding the colour scheme of the zombies. A slight blue or green hue would help them stand out from the scenery a little better. Having said that, it's technically brilliant and I couldn't come close to pulling this off!

    Congratulations on a job well done ;-)
