Lovely work on this Andy - sculpt reminds me of a less rotten and portly version of the GW lord or plagues mini.

As Toad said theres some really nice colour work on the metals bringing them to life and you have nailed that hairy chest!

Thanks hairster I’ve been enjoying messing about with colours and textures on this bad boy. Also adding detail which isn’t sculpted. I have been trying to get a contrast in warm and cool tones between the warm flesh and cool armour. Also the same thing between smooth flesh and rough oxidised metals. The axe is going to be interesting as it is saying to me godly weapon but if I go overboard it will detract from the rough aesthetic.

    Did some more last night.

Cheers BAM very nice to hear that I must say your chaos warriors are a go to of mine as well.

I have been working on the rest of the armour and the clothes . I love messing about with the textures in this mini. There are very few sculpted into it but there are large areas that act as great canvases to painting on texture. Here we are.

Cheers Guys much appreciated! The leather once you get the technique right is surprisingly easy to do. I just start off with a rich dark brown and spread it on then just keep lightening the paint with off white and stipple it on with a crapy old brush just covering less and less areas until you get to that light beige colour which really does look like roughed scratched leather. Then back in with dark blue and red thinned down paint stippled into the recesses. It took about an hour to do that leather quick and dirty no finesse.

In the final half now of this bad boy. On to the axe gone a bit box art on this as it was very good although trying to replicate the effect that oils can give with acrylics is rather difficult.

It’s very enjoyable to watch you blast through this, seeming to have the flow in your fingers. The way you’re balancing powerful but muted colors, and building up wonderful textures to play off one another, it’s just great.

All done this mini has been one of my favourite to paint ever. I have pushed myself as much as possible with this one. Trying to emulate the effect that you can achieve with oils. Also my determination that I do as best as possible with the basing it should tell a story hence the northern lights through the archway a nod to the Bifrost.

The bananas were an odd choice for the base, but otherwise it’s a great piece! I love the textural variation throughout the figure and that great green/orange interplay on the armor is something special. Chest hairs are also a strong point. Base is also cool, I think you came up with a great solution to incorporating the Bifrost without letting it take over the whole scene. Excellent job, bud. Really fun to watch your progress all along.

Awesome work Andy, loving all the textures you put on this piece.
The cloth, skin, bone, metal, everything looks spot on.
