According to google translate he said "article or quality writing together. I wish you happy". So i think it is legit.

The alien guy is looking good, but i must say i had to do a double take when i first seen him. From the straight on view of your pics it kinda looks like his dinker is out and about, standing at attention. LOL. I am not familiar with this mini or its fluff. Do they have pupils? Since i don't know anything about it and if it was me at this stage i would put snake like pupils, i think that would also enhance the brightness of the green there a bit also. That should give him a nice "I'm about to Eff your world up" look. Either way i think your blending is going very well already. Maybe a tad more white at the tips of his left handed fingers, to match the light flow of the rest of his skin.

You should write "vampiric allergies" on your vampire base and everyone will think it was all totally on purpose!

. Do not do that. I almost blew milk out my nose!! That is a g-string type of thing that is held up with a belly piercing. I noticed I forgot to paint it in the pictures, so I will do that to clear up any mis interpretation. Do not know if they have pupils as the fluff is kind of light. I like the idea of snake eyes...will have to think about trying that.

Per the fluff (as I understand). The human Britanan's were invading the other races and the oldest race in an attempt to stop them whipped up a doozy of a spell that messed the whole world and it's races up. The ancient race became deranged and fused as elemental forms (some of them remind me of the tooth faries from HellBoy--very cool), most of the humans died (but crazy king Jorge figure out how to transfer their essence to dolls-- how cool are grenadier and highlander stitch punk doll troops?), and the Orcnar became fused with stone (think trolls with rocks imbedded in their flesh), and then there are the Nuem. Sounds like they were a peaceful race that were tricked by another race to hide from the magic spell in their underground lair. The other race enslaved them, and to control them they were mutilated and merged with automaton's that delivered constant pain. Over time they embraced the pain and can not survive without it. They revolted and escaped. In my mind they are like a cross between chaos dwarves and drow. The one I am painting up are one of the few not encased in a machine and are the leaders of the Nuem with the most magic....basically this is a new enough system, I figure I can do whatever I want!

@everyone...since the mayan's were a disappointment and the world did not end, I had to go to work today. Which means it is now time to wish everyone a Merry Christmas.

Ok a little eye / OSL work for Christmas. Instead of lightening with white as in the glowing green eye OSL tutorial I decided to go with increasing levels of cad yellow light with the very top of the bulb pure yellow. The white version seemed more realistic to artificial light source of a helmet and I thought the yellow would seem more organic/magical (How is that for a load of BS justification ). Since I was happy with the way the Specialis Pueri was going I started the other alternate sculpt to try improving the eyes on. The sculpt of the eyes on this one were much smoother than the first version. Once highlighted up to yellow I (tried) to put a fine vertical line to represent a snakes eye pupil slit. Thoughts??? (think I may be able to narrow the bottom or the slit in the left eye--ha ha.)

Once I liked the direction of the eyes on the alt sculpt I went back to the original and and lightened it up in the same way and again tried adding a slit. I also took the lighter yellow/green mix to the upper cheeks for OSL. Is it too much/too little? ---oh and I added the penny to hide her modesty for Moe

You've done a great job Krulebear! I really like it, if I would comment on something, I would put a very controlled wash of dark green on the eyes to separate the eyes from the body, so there is a little more contrast on that part. the glow effect is very well done, maybe a little more?
    Keep it up!

Thanks. I think I'll have to green ink around the original ones eyes (she with the penny) as the right eye is essentially flat and I had to "fake" an eyeball in it. And the left eye has a couple divits in the middle of it. The second sculpt has nice casting to it and should be easier to add wash.

And I'm still trying to get some bravery to push the OSL further

Krule - I think the OSL is just fine, especially since the eyes aren't glowing white. I do agree with trying to separate the eye from the face though.

I have to agree with dung here, adding a yellow helmet will surely make your mini look like pure awesomeness.

Dang, that means I have to move up my learning how to sculpt! Maybe I will start with the level. That should be easier

Continued work on the alternate sculpt. I had problems getting smoothness with the peak highlight on this one for some reason. (It seemed to be drying as I applied it even using the same dilution--Oh well).I then shaded with a glaze of my mid highlight--not sure about it. I also didn't put much highlight on the outside of the right thigh as the arm and cloak block sunlight from hitting it--probably technically correct, but I think it looks wonders. I will probably go back and add some additional transitions to the boddy of this one.

More contrast too much mid/highlite going on definitely want to drop the shading down a tone or two methinks. A bit a flow aid or retarder in the mix should sort out the drying problem.

A glaze or two of a purple wash or ink should add some richness.

    Hope this helps mate.

Oh yeah don't forget that yellow helmet!

Did some glazing with dilute genesteeler purple which helped and then redid my last two highlights with an additional couple blends between the two of them. looks much better now (especially irl), but is starting to get a bit muddy. I also don't have the stark contrasts I was liking on the first version of this...ponder-ponder...might just add some ivory to the tips of the bone/knive/finger thingies and call the skin done.

btw--my new DaVinci brush is already crapping out after 3 mini's, but it sure came to a nice point initially.

...and I'm still working on the yellow helmet

Yeah, bought myself a couple of W&N Series 7s last summer (Groupon had a deal at a local art supply store) on the pretense that they still could be the best. Still make a great point and holds a ton of paint, but the damn thing likes to split and flatten out. Had much better luck with the Raphael. So using the W&N for base coats, and the Raphael for details.

Had no luck either with my DaVinci brushes, I have 1 W&N pencil but I'm not that pleased with it, like pegazus said, it holds a ton of paint which is amazing but it splits regularly.

There is indeed no contrast like in the other one, maybe highlighted a too large area? Think it's just the pose, it looks good to me. Really nice mini's.
    Keep it up!

@Cileon and Pegazus-ironically the no name sable brushes I bought around 25 years ago are still working decent. But they are missing a few bristles now

As far as the mini, I am moving on from the skin ( at least for now). I finished the green on the alt sculpt and have started the chains and hooks on both. Them I will get the leather straps painted ( probably a lighter brown or even buckskin color) on the alternate sculpt and see if it is good enough. Plan to get Picts up in the next couple of days.

I also tried to DaVinci and found they didn't last very long. I then tried some Raphael brushes and now own several sets of 0-6/0, most still in the package they came in 2 years ago. Best brushes i have ever tried personally. The first set i bought is just now starting to go all shaggy. I also use "the masters" brush cleaner and preserver to clean them. Learned about that stuff from the "hot lead" dvd. One tub of that stuff lasts forever and its cheap and works soooooo well.

Lol the modesty penny isn't really needed my friend They are looking good btw, and i love the eyes.

@Moe: I will have to get ome Raphaels. For the most part we are usually our own worst critic. I think I just need to get about a dozen mini's actually finished to get my attitude adjusted. Lol .

Anyways, I haven't had time to get Picts posted as I have been busy on another project. Hint-: it is the largest mini I have ever tackled. Hope to have Picts by the weekend.
