Great concept. Maybe a Chaos style sissy bar and bed roll on the back?

Thanks! Though I have a feeling my wasteland inspired bike will not be quite as nice looking as BDerricks' examples.

As I was looking at google for references I found a site showing a lot of close up images from someone who was restoring a 1970's Yamaha RT 360 (the closest match to the original model kit that I've seen). There are some great detail shots which give me some more direction on changes I should make to the body (stuff that was simplified in the model), wiring/hoses I can add around the engine, etc. For the back of the bike, I don't think I'm going to modify the structure (aside from adding detail). I just plan to build on top of it by adding armor, packs/supplies, etc. So I think the next step is to fix the details on the bike to make it more realistic. Then I'll begin to layer stuff over that.

MrJim, yeah, I was thinking about putting a bedroll there, maybe strapping a spare tire over it too. Then have some packs on either side. I'd also like to add a rifle holster somewhere on the bike, though that might be closer to the front for easier access while riding. He might have a big scary ax, but I don't expect that's his only weapon.

I have no doubts that it is going to be amazing when you put your magic on it.

haha, yeah, there are a few projects in the works. The pirate scene is still something I plan to finish. I just knew that the base is going to be complex and take a while, so I took a break to finish some quicker projects (like Brom). The Mad Max style biker is going to be another long term project. If all goes well I'm hoping to bring him to Adepticon next year and I'd also like to bring the pirate diorama. I want to take my time with the biker and build a well thought out scene. I want the base to be concise, so I only have in it what I need to tell the story and create a convincing world (rather than the figure in a huge sprawling scene). At this point I know a few of the pieces, but the whole scene hasn't come into focus. In the meantime, I'll keep bouncing back and forth between projects!

for the biker guy - brass pipe cut down might work for the Goggles then sculpt around them?

you can never have too many projects on the go!

Your work David ,will NEVER fall short of anything less than well painted/well planned.
Am def going to enjoy the updates through texts the way we’ve done for the last number of years. It’s always an honor and privelage to see your work much sooner than it will appear in your WIP pages!!! Thanks for everything !!!

I can’t do it that way I wish I could. I’m not saying I’m ocd or anything it’s just that it causes me physical pain to leave a mini incomplete. +1 to corroded armour on the back of the dwarf by the way.

Canny, yeah, I was thinking something like that. I might have a hard time cutting them, so I was also going to look at some plasticard options (though in that case I'm guessing the walls will be much too thick for the scale).

    Thanks, BAM!

Andy, there's always the danger that I leave a project for too long and then never come back to it. But mostly I remind myself that I'm painting for fun and my own enjoyment. If a project is stuck and I'm getting frustrated, I'll step away and work on something else. There are quite a few cases where taking a break has allowed me to come back to the project with a fresh mindset and solve the issues I was having. For the pirate scene it's less about getting stuck and more about the size of the project. It's definitely a marathon type piece. So in that case having some small side projects can be nice to keep me from burning out on the long ones.

Anyway, I've made some more progress with Brom. I had a hard time figuring out exactly what colors I wanted to use for the clothing, but I think I finally settled on something I like. It's brown with a bit of green, so it gives it the faded look I want (while the green still provides contrast to the orange of the beard and rust). The next challenge will be coming up with the colors I want to use for the material on his forearms... but that's a problem for another day.

Almost to the point where I can add the hands and weapon. Just need to paint the underside of that piece (the areas which will be hard to reach once it's glued on).

Brom is looking great! The hair and beard are perfect and I really like the dinginess to his armour.

Very impressive so far, colour pallete draws you right into his face instantly before you start to take in all the other lovely detailing.

Excellent painting as usual. Especially like the light placement on his beard

I'm liking the colours you have chosen, the green shoulders and orange beard, I'm guessing a small amount of blue-purple? (the old 70/30 ratio with a splash of blue-purple?), in the back of my head as I look at what people are painting I'm imagining colours on Harald. Something that is different enough but works with a dwarf. He is coming along great. I will pester you later on if that's cool once I am closer to colour choices.

A burgundy colour would work well, I think. You can play a bit with the amount of saturation until you find something that works well with the other colours.
