It's picture time and there be dragons spotted over the workbench, this is the follow on to the oriental dragon I finished earlier in the year. Gone for more of a traditional style to this one, it will be mounted on top of a ruined wizard's keep. Comments welcomeName: IMG_0277.JPG

Very nice dragon! I like the head on this one. Now, I figure you're probably waiting to get the neck attached but you may want to make sure he has a jaw bone in the back. I think having that set up first, and solid, would make neck attachment easier?

But what the heck do I know? lol! Very nice job thus far!

Thanks Kathryn The jaw bone will be modelled on to the neck as the lower jaw is part of the neck for casting, the top of the head will be cast as a seperate piece to give the castor less of a headache with all those tiny teeth !

That is an awesome dragon head WGS. How did you sculpt the teeth? I always have problems with those.

I really like the overall flow of the head. Not so sure about the square scales along the lip though. And I agree about the cool teeth.

Heres a step by step on how I make teeth
Step 1 make the inner gum rembering where the teeth are the gum is wider, then on the outer edge of the gum make an indentation and leave to set hardName: IMG_0276.JPG

Step 2 a Role a thin strand of green tappered at the end and place into your set indetation.
Step 2 b Cut off the excess green and shape into the gum line.
Step2 c Now mark a line into the tooth at the top of the gum line and shape the tooth if desired ( shown as a curve added to the tooth)Name: t02.JPG

Step 3 Once step 2 is dry to finish make the outer lip and add desired texture, this stage helps lock in all the seperate teeth you've made

Here's a fishy tale for you guys. . . . well pictures of a mermaid one at least. Have only got a couple of rows of scales on the top left to do and a thin strip underneath which I will do when I start breaking her apart into her component pieces for easy access.

Nice texture on the membrane....can i throw a spanner in by saying its very flat and would benefit from some curvature. when i did the swooping hawk i shaped the wings around a bottle and fiddled/bended them fully just prior to them setting/curing. Oh and i still think you need to watch your eyesight doing those scales lol mind boggling
