Have started the wings, holding one in place to see if I am going the right direction. Any improvements that should be made in color choice or other things?

Your Nocturna mini is Amazing! Really great work, I love purple tones! The reworked eye is amazing!

Then this frog skin and eye are amazing! Looks like a real frog!

Thanks Boubi, I was really satisfied with the frog, but I do believe the nocturna model is even better painted in some ways. I learn a lot to go to different classes.

Yes you have a nice learning curve! Impressive progress and it is true that the Nocturna model is starting in a really excellent way! Keep us posted!

Sadly, not many painting classes here in China, but I plan to move back to Europe next year! I hope to join some to also have a small improvement steps. And also to participate to some convention, etc...

Purple Lady is coming along nicely, mate. It's looking very good overall but I'm especially a fan of the area around her thighs.

Toadman looks disturbing, in a very well painted kind of way.

The color selection on the angel is pretty cool and the frog man turned out awesome. I swear I haven't seen a bad version of that mini.

    Default Arinthuil vision

An update, pasting text from a blog that i write on again (minipaitning.se )

My next upcoming painting project is to paint Arinthuil the wild elf from black crow miniatures.

I have decided that I should make out a plan of what I want too achieve before I start this project, I am going to visualise it and explain what I want too achieve. (Wanting is not always where you end up, changes might occur on the way.)
I see him walking down towards a “beach” area so it will be sand and grass tuffs and also variation of height since it is smaller dunes that he is walking in. The sun has just started to rise and he is walking towards the light.
Below are some questions that I need to think about.

    • Direction of light how will it affect the figure and base?
      • There will be a warmer light from the front, I think it will touch more on the top of the figure, since the sun is still going up (have to test and think about this one)
      • Light from behind will be colder and not so strong, there might be some smaller warm light reflections of the sun from the sand behind the figure. Mostly colder colors.
      • It will also affect the contrast on the back properly will be less than it is in the front, to compensate this I need to use more colours in the shadows and light to make it interesting.
      • Also how far up have the sun raised, this will affect the colour of light from the sun and how it affects the surroundings.

    • What colour are the sand from the beginning and how will it look in the shadows and light part, how will it bounce eventual light from the sun?
      • I think I will go with a lighter sand colour so that I can use the warmer red/yellow light from the sun to warm up the areas where the sunrays hit the sun.

    • What kind of sand is it, smaller and lighter or more like gravel?
      • Will look at reference photos and also see what kind of material that is available and make design choices from that.

    • How to use shadows cast from the objects on the base?
      • Since the sun is rising up the shadows from the dunes grass and figure will have to be longer and stretching of the base in some areas.

I have a base that I like and will use, the base is a piece of old wood that have a nice lighter texture to it. I have to carve in some height differences in it and also one side that is the front will have a slope where he starts to go down into the beach area.

    Upcoming steps to do:

    • Find reference materials from pictures, from dunes, beaches and grass sort there and other things that grow.
      • Try to make some realistic looking version of the grass to get a feel for how to make them.
      • Start carving out the wood and the layout of the base. (Make a small drawing… I really bad at that but just something to keep the idea of the layout in mind J)
      • Fit the model into where it should be on the base.
      • Start to build up the base to see where grass and sand goes. Basic structures
      • After that start the painting of the figure, put the light and shadow areas into the figure sketching it in
      • Make correspondent shadow light sketches on base so it fits together.
      • Make all the fine works

Well this is kind of a plan, I guess it will evolve over time and change when need or inspiration hits me. It might be a bit unstructured so far but hey this is the way I work, well actually this is much more structured approached when I ever have used before, kind of fun.

I hope you will appreciate this write up and perhaps in future someone can have use of it. Now I am of to finish the Lilith bust before I start this project too much and get sidetracked

Almost done with Lilith bust now, no pics yet, doing NMM on her and that is bloody difficult since I am not used to it. Today thou was a break from serious painting and I started on 3 fisherman's from guildball. so hope to finish them tomorrow (today), didn't get so much time into painting them today that I had hoped for. here are a WIP shot of them.
