Default Zombicide as a Christmas Gift

I didn't get in on the Kickstarter, although I did get in on 4 after this one.

Anways, I picked this up for my Dad, who is a huge zombie nut. He loves playing Left 4 Dead and Zombies on Xbox, so I figured a board game equivalent would work well. I ordered it early so that I could at least get a few of the characters painted.
So far I've done the cop and the office worker:

Not aiming for anything high level, just playable. I haven't gotten a chance to actually play, since I don't want to open all the bits inside. Just thought you guys might enjoy.

Aye mate, helluva nice christmas gift. Especially since you plan on painting some of it, I imagine he'll be happy as all get out

Just make sure you seal them properly so they can be handled without loosing all that hard work you've done, painting them.

Good point - I don't usually use sealant, but I will here.
I've even roped my brother and fiance, neither of whom paint, to help out.
She did one (the yellow and purple one) and was done.
My brother, well, he's having way too much fun, especially with the fatties.

These are the ones I've finished:

That's a cool project, and should have a lot of value for your father. If you need any help rushing some paint onto undead gribblies let me know. Good luck.

Really like those first characters. You'll have to tell us your dad reaction afterwards. I'll bet that he'll be speechless.

Christmas is almost here, and soon we will see if this was worth it (I'm sure it will be). My brother, who is not really a painter or gamer, has been invaluable with this. While I was working on the survivors, he managed to paint almost half of the zombies. I'll be spending these last few hours trying to get the abomination looking suitably mean.

Well, this is as far as he gets. Not bad, I suppose. Now I can't wait to see his reaction. And to play, of course.

Wow man that is an awesome idea. And great paint jobs, love your brother's g/f's paintjob. Hope your dad loves it! And that game is awesome! Merry Christmas!

Looks nice and a great present. Have a Merry Christmas.

And let us know how you like playing the game. Looks like a very simple system that non gamers may enjoy.

Update time - this was the best idea I've ever had.

He thought the present was cool, and we've played a few games. It really is easy to pick up, and has tons of replayability. After one scenario where we ran out of walkers and carnage ensued (for those that don't know - game rules state that if you run out of minis for a zombie type, any further spawns turn into an immediate extra turn for all the zombies of that type. The box comes with 40 walkers. That's 40 zombies that get to go twice.) he started looking around for a source of more zombies. I had a few Hasslefree zombies from a project I never started, so I let him have those. For the first time in close to 20 years, the man who brought me into this hobby put brush to mini and painted up one of the hasslefree zombies. I was so happy. And now he keeps talking about custom characters and trying to find minis to represent them.

One of the best Christmas stories I've heard this year! Thank you for the smile.

Awesome stuff man, glad he likes it. Should see if you can post some pics of his zombie paint job.

Hopefully I can get a game or two with him this weekend. If I do, I'll be sure to do that.

This is brilliant TrystanGST shame you missed out on the kickstarter. I got the abomonation set with the extra minis and cards for them. It gets even more like hell when 3 trays of walkers are loose on the board.

    The abomination looks great too

Awesome stuff Trystan, that is really cool that he wanted to jump in and also customize his mini's with you guys. I will one day paint my miniatures, but backed Kingdom Death: Monster and started playing Malifaux with a buddy so need to prep painting on those miniatures. o.O I have a lot to do lol.

Man I know that feeling. Luckily we won't see Monster until Christmas. Plenty of time to get warmed up.
