    Default Pre Heresy Night Lords

    Hi all,
Thought this would be a good place to gather info. I'm doing a 30k Night Lords force and I like to keep things as close to fluff as possible so any info on things like named chars, specialist squads, individuals weapons and so on would really help me go about planning out the look, feel and composition of the force.
I would like my force to be based just prior to Kurzes little dispute with Dorn. So any references to this time frame would be most helpful as I really wanna focus on the idea of the legions corruption from within as the level of recruits from Nostramo rises and the Terrans are slipping into a minority.

    Thanks

The only character I can think of is Sevatar but I assume you already know of him and have read the heresy books?

I've read the ADB books but nothing from heresy specific time. Mainly looking for details like markings on armour, Notable weapons and so on, but seems a tough subject to get info on. Net searches aint really too helpful as they tend to give a overview rather than the little details. I'm Finding little bits here and there but nothing of great worth really.
Bit suprised there is so little in the way of support for the Night Lords. Much easier to find info on the other legions it seems.
What heresy book focuses on the night lords?

I havent read them all, but I think first heretic features Sevatar, and one of the short stories in 'Age of Darkness'. Sevatar (or his companion) is described as having a polearm type chainsword. I also thnk it meantions skulls painted onto the helms.

The colours didnt change that much I think, except the bronze trimings they added later... If I´d be you I would wait until they are released by Forgeworld... but this could take some time^^

Nothing Nightlords specific has been released by forgeworld... yet. I went to the open day and saw nightlord landraider doors. Also, I think the http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuf...YER_SQUAD.html and http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/New_Stuf...CON_SQUAD.html both look like they've been painted pre heresy nightlords.

Most of the named characters in ADB's books are heresy era, in Soul Hunter I think it mentions Talos and First Claw fighting at the siege of the Emperor's Palace. Plus there's a couple of mentions in the HH books from BL, mostly Prince of Crows (which is excellent) in the Shadows of Treachery book.

As for gear I suppose it depends on what list your using. Personally I'd lean more towards the Legion list in Betrayal (though if you can hang on till games day I'm fairly certain FW said the Night Lords will be in book 2). The Night Lords used fear as a weapon so its choosing combinations of equipment that look most intimidating and that also give you a good space to add Terror Markings (the skull faces on the helms and lightning strikes and such) so I'd probably go with a mix of MkIII and MkIV for the armour and add lots of grisly trophies, severed heads, skulls ornaments, spikes, meat hooks on chains and such.

Specific units obviously Legion Tactical and Assault squads are a given, other than that I'd say Legion Support Squads kitted out with Flamers(obviously)/Volkite Calivers(tesla guns are scary), Legion Destroyer Squads with Phosphex Bombs, Cataphract/Tartarus Terminators to represent the Antramentar, basically pick weapons that would give the most visual impact when used.

    Hope that helps!

If your still looking for info try posting on http://z13.invisionfree.com/The_Firs...ion/index.php? lots of people who know more than me there, plus we have BL's Horus Heresy Editor to answer the really tough questions!

Night Lords are pretty cool. You can still use names from the ADB series like Xarl, Talos Valcoran, Cyrion, Uzas, Mercution and other notable night lords are Jago "Sevatar" Sevatarion, Zso Sahaal, Sheng, Krieg Acerbus, Krukesh, Halasker, Uros Kastax, Tovac Tor, Cel Herec and Ophion...
