    Default Tough Girls

I'm sure you're all aware of the Raging Heroes "Toughest girls in the Galaxy" Kickstarter that is running http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...alaxy?ref=live
Well they have just posted photos of there first 3D printed mini which I think looks awesome. It also show how close the minis will be to the artwork.

They have also promised photos of 3D print troops on Tuesday.

I was wondering where the TGG thread was on these forums. Now I think on it, maybe there wasn't one. Anyhoo, all y'all need to take a gander at the Toughest Girls in the Galaxy KS, run by Raging Heroes. Lovely minis, very reasonable price, and what seems to be a respectable company. You know you want to. Ah, go on. Go on go on go on go on go on go on go on go on...

(See TO for link to the KS.)

PS - the heroes/fancy stuff will be done in metal, with the units being done in spincast resin, I believe)

They Have now revealed the art work for all of the Hero minis and they look amazing. Also they have decided to start unlocking these daily rather than waiting for pledge targets so that all of then minis should be unlocked by the end.

I had to choose between this and Hangar 18. Hangar 18 won

To each their own TGG is far preferable to me. The Hangar18 stuff is lovely work, no doubt, but too pin-uppy for my tastes (which, to be fair, is because it's a line that specializes in pin-ups...)

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed with the Hangar 18 stuff that came out. TGG got my money in the end.

these are tempting, but I had to remind myself I have about 400+ unpainted minis still, plus rivet wars coming soon too...

I'm a much more cautious KS backer these days, but there are enough really nice minis in this one to keep tempting l'il pledge increases outta me, 10 bucks at a time. Seeing GWs new apoc stuff makes me feel much better about backing this kind of thing though, as KB mentioned in the thread about apoc stuff.

    I was a backer.

    Then they made child soldiers.

Thats just not cool on any level, so i am out.

I will pick up a few of the minis once they reach general sales.
The odds of succesfully finishing this miniature is 3720:1

Agreed. I found that an odd move to say the least - a creative brain fart at best. I was going to increase my pledge, but that kind of threw me so I'll just stick with the one I have now to grab a few of the heroines I like.

I dropped out completely. I couldn't stomach the child soldiers - why on earth would they put something like that in?

But ultimately, Cthulhu Wars just won out.

    Edit:
Raging Heroes is going to put up another pledge level in which all the heroines are cast in resin. That might just induce me to get back into this Kickstarter - but I'm feeling more than a bit like that Katy Perry song about inconsistent temperatures ...

If i can get in on that and it's a decent price I'll go in on it, but I'm not gonna strain myself I'm not that hot on all the sculpts - just most of 'em o_O

I must confess that you have raised my eyebrow* a little with the comments about the lulus. Surely....it's just a wee metal model? No? Does nobody else find it strange to withdraw support from a miniatures project because it has something which, in real life, would be distasteful? I mean, you guys were ok with the poor woman being experimented upon in the dark lab of the evil empire, being twisted and mutated, gradually losing her individuality until she was nothing more than shambling, oversize hulk of muscle, but kids with toy guns and oversize helmets crosses your line? I'm assuming neither of you ever buy GW miniatures, because clearly the dark eldar and their torture-as-a-way-of-life would be really nasty in reality, too. And no PP stuff, either, since the slave raiders of the Cryx would be horrible if they were real?

I'm not trying to be confrontational here - I respect your opinions and I'm not trying to change them, but you've both been hitherto very sensible and reasonable chaps, and I'm a bit befuddled by what seems (to me) to be a somewhat arbitrary and illogical choice.

Just my unasked for two cents

*the right one, in case you were wondering

i think its a problem when its too close to reality. sure, dark eldar are vicious but you can distance from it pretty easy being fiction.
i know i wouldnt buy or paint child soldier miniatures.

I'm with MiJ - I certainly don't think anyone is wrong or silly or weird for their position. I am just curious - what specifically is the hangup?
    Is it because they're children?
Is it because they've been made "cute"?
Is it because they're presented as actual combat troops and not just mascots?

I cannot speak for anyone else, but the child soldiers aspect of the Lulus hits a bit too close to reality for me. Maybe I'm being a little oversensitive, considering I'm a father now, and I'm projecting my son on to what is largely just a game. It makes me uncomfortable to see children drafted out for battle - I mean, I've seen the images of the Somali child soldiers, but it's never really hit home for me till only recently. I reckon when my son gets around to paintball age, I'm probably going have a few issues.

I'll admit, I'm also not really enthralled with the stance Raging Heroes has taken in responding to some of the Kickstarter comments - there was one early on in the Kickstarter, where they essentially responded with what I interpreted to be overwhelming arrogance, that really damaged my perception of them. I'll be the first to confess that that really is my interpretation, and that it was my failing in not realizing that they were French, and therefore, English probably wasn't their first language and not a strong point.

Funny thing is, if you ask me just exactly what the comment was and what set me off, I couldn't really tell you now.

Anyway, I was already contemplating throwing my pledge away in favour of Cthulhu Wars, so this was really just the last straw for me. I've found their handling of the Kickstarter very poor in terms of communication, lack of positive updates, freebies that simply do not interest me, and with the daily unlocks, a mentality of "oh, shit, don't think people are buying into this quickly enough" that really soured the Kickstarter for me.

I'm a forgive-and-forget kind of guy, though, so when they roll out their next planned Kickstarter for Dark Elves, I'm quite happy to give them a second chance and see if their performance improves.

Speaking for me alone I can say this: It just made me pause. I work in TV so I am pretty unflappable. I browse e2046 regularly and have no issues there. Hell, I went to high school with 2 girls that are now porn stars and they are still, in my view the same nice girls I knew back then (just with a sketchy career path). Me_in_japan, You hit the nail on the head though. It IS an irrational emotional reaction. It's not as strong as the one I had to the the Wet Nurse from Kingdom Death. That actually kept me from joining that KS. Some things just hit me harder. I suspect I may have become a bit more touchy since my daughter was born 4 years ago, though. I am still interested in this new "collector box" they have announced, but the price will help me decide on that offer. All 37 heroines?! Maybe, though I really only love about 15 of the sculpts...

I'm not sure if this helps any, but Raging Heroes posted the following when they unveiled the Lulu's:

The Lulu's are a patch of stray little girls who have become the protégés of the apparently emotion-less One-Shot Blondie.
The little girls worship their hero and always try to emulate her, following her wherever she goes.
But Blondie always keeps them safe, never letting them come near violent action.
And to make sure they are not tempted by real weapons, she has equipped them with inoffensive dart guns that she crafted herself...

Of course, we don't want them to be part of the fights on the battlefield.
So we decided that in-game, the Lulu's will have very specific capabilities.
No one will be able to target them, and they will be virtually indestructible.
They won't be able to inflict any damage to anyone but they will distract enemy focus, and/or create safe zones around them for the Jailbirds.
So, they are definitely not supposed to be a unit within the Jailbird army. I think the intent is for them to be more of mascots.

Now they definitely LOOK like child soldiers, and I completely understand that that could be enough to turn people off. But, at least, RH isn't being totally insensitive and making them actual fighting figures :/
