    Default My first castings!

    Helloooooo again!
    Knocked up a mould yesterday and spent half the night tweaking it and casting some samples:

    Had a few problems with the masters with silicon getting into places it shouldn\'t... Does anyone out there have any advice/experience they wish to impart. It would be very gratefully received. Cheers folks.:D

    Those look really great! Are they for personal use only or are you planning on selling?

    Those bases look great, and I\'m sure they will sell on eBay or the CMON store.

    Give your masters a thin coat of paint or varnish and let dry before moulding. Usually does the trick.

    Cheers UncleH.
    I\'ve tried this and it worked really well - it also took the sheen off some of the pieces making them more primer friendy!
    @Abstract - Thanks - I\'ll check it out!

    Great job Mr. Munkie,

    I can\'t wait to see the rocky ones....

    Casting could be yet another \'arm\' of this hobby I\'d like to eventually try out some more.

    Good stuff.

    Space, have you tried a mold release agent? Pam spray cooking oil works in a pinch. Go very light and it helps to get the master out of the silicone.

    Temperance can give you some pointers as he does lots of molding of his sculpts.

    They look wonderful. I\'m still a bit of a casting neophyte, and I think what you have are great results.
