Thread: Consistency

It would be nice to get a list of the new abilities / ability names.

I do like how counterattack has a set defense it triggers on, so we can have Counter Attack (Armor) or Counter Attack (Parry), and any other options that may come up

What would be nice though is if terms that do not have a trait attached were consistent - now for the most part they are, but in at least one occurrence we have the same Ability having different affect

    Feint Changes Parries to strikes

    Unrelenting Changes Dodge to strike

    Suppression changes Magic to strike

    Sundering changes Armor to Strike

But depending on the card Follow through sometimes changes Dodge to Strike and sometimes changes Block to strike

That's a simple copy/paste error that has already been pointed out in another thread. It is on the list of changes and will be updated shortly.

No problem, there are quite a few copy paste errors, things with missing Ranges, or missing Dice, or just missing wording, should we start a type thread to help catch all of these?

And what are the chances of getting the updated Ability list? It is inconvenient that abilities are written out on some cards and not others, making if difficult to determine what any model does without having all of the cards in front of you so that you can find the one card with the actual wording of the ability on it

A quick reference card is in the works. Feel free to post any general copy edits, we've got a list that is on-going here, if we don't have it down already, we'll add it up!

    Thanks!

Not really much consistency, but something that will make the cards more easy readable. Move the attack abilities to the attacks. Some attacks have this (bounce, is an example) But other don't. This made me confused when reading the hammer of heaven, as he has both Enchanted (On the attack) and Swinging Chain (ability) that do exactly the same.

This is an error - the definition for Enchanted:

Enchanted: Before attacks are made, this model canturn all [Melee] attacks into [Magic] attacks

I will add it to the list for changes!

    Thanks!

Ah, that makes much more sense Still, please move all attack ability explanations to the attacks themselves.

Enchanted is not an attack ability, it's a special ability attached to his Insight.

That doesn't make any sense, The Hammer of Heaven lists Enchanted, Feint(1), and Grab as part of the Spiked Chain Ability. If what you are saying is accurate then wouldn't Grab and Feint also be part of his Enlightenment - which we know is incorrect.

Actually I think listing Enchantment under Special Abilities is the proper place, since it would reduce txt if that ability appeared on Multiple attacks.

One thing though, whenever a card has access to an ability, please put that abilities explanation on the card. Having it on some cards and not others is just confusing, either always have it, or always leave it off

Enchanted should not be listed under the weapon. Feint(1) and Grab are the weapons abilities.

The only time an ability is left off of a card is on a leader when the trooper model has the definition on his card, with some of the leader cards it's a space issue and just doesn't fit. If an ability is listed on a leaders card with no definition it will always be on the troop card.

I think that this a good solution. The only problem is that the first card I looked at to check on this was a failure. The Lineman Controller has Knockback and no Explanation but Linemen do not have Knockback so there is no explanation of the ability on their card either. I will look through the rest of the cards to see how often this occurs

Just to add to this Discussion, looking through the rest of the Infantry / Leader Cards it does indeed follow what you state about abilities being on the troop card. The one issue I have though are when abilities give you an ability and that ability has no explanation. For Example:

The Wrath has the ability Against all Odds: While this model is in contact with two or more enemy models, it gains Ward(1)

So while the card tells us what Against all Odds does, it does not tell us what Ward(1) does.
