Default A Who Made This of a Different Kind

    Hey all,

I'm trying to find the artist who did this sketch. I don't have the intimate knowledge of character artists and I know a few of you on here are pretty rabid fans. The style, at least to me, is very reminiscent of Monkey Island mixed with Disney's Atlantis but I can't find any characters that are even close to this one. The chin/jawline and nose are throwing me off, I think. I'm not sure what he's looking at in his hand but to me he's either casting a spell or looking a bird or some similar character/animal.

I know there are signatures and artist marks in this but I can't make them out enough to read and I'm not familiar enough with concept artists to recognize any of them. It looks like there's three different one's, one mark to the left, one mark to the right and a full on signature below (the one looks like it's either Jim or Sam). I think there's a better chance of people recongizing the signatures than the character.

So, looking for help to track this artist down, or even the characters source or name would be a great start! I have no idea of he's from a game or a cartoon series or a movie or just a one off in someones sketch book from a convention, I just need to find out who he is.

    Thanks a bunch!

Sorry to post so quick - I think I might mistaken the sig at the bottom - they might be the characters names - Jim (or Sam) & *bird name*

Still leaves me without an answer though

I have a feeling I have seen that sketch somewhere before and can't quite put my finger on it. Can you post a link of where you found the picture or was that scanned from a book you have? I can't make out any of the marks on the photo you posted.

Could the character be Jim Hawkins from Treasure Island?

The URL is listed as http://thelenideas.com/randy/peasant.jpg Maybe a peasant from one of the Disney movies (Hunchback of Notre Dame, Beauty and the Beast?), if the filename is accurate?

Hah - no, Bloodhowl - I named it, the image came to me without any references at all and I don't have access to the source material.

I haven't read Treasure Island, Dragonsreach. I looked at the sketchwork and conceptst from the newer Disneys Treasure Planet and it's not quite that, but there are some similarities. The pony tail and mode of dress are close (or present in both, at least). Couldn't find any reference to a sidekick or animal friend/character though that might be in his hand.
