Thanks Rich, first time with black armor and I'm happy how it is going.

Anybody 'loves' painting marine backpacks as I?

That black armour looks awesome, can't believe it's your first time, any chance you could share some tips? Particularly with the light reflection which is something I've tried many times on leather boots and things but can never get it right

Of course, I just love 'finishing' a mini only to realize you still have to do the smaller, more boring attachment, and make sure they match

It is not my first attempt to paint shiny armor. I'm rolling the idea from my Blood Angel Captain only in different colors.

    Some tips:
    - do not use only one source of light for reflections. I usualy work with 4 and more 'sources of light'
    - make some small reflections from opposide direction
    - don't worry with too sharp gradients, it makes the shiny look
    - use white only as final dots on final highlight.

    I hope it helps.

That helps a lot thank you, I'll have to give it another try soon

All I can see is that it is starting to "shine"

Yea, very shiny. I'm afraid if it is not too much. And the most polished left hand still missing...
There are only sketches of future highlights on the right hand.

The best part to the end. The silver hand is the next..

wow, this is another spectacular figure. The black armour is soooo good, but what I find even better is the face : full of expresion and character. It would be great painting if this is a 54mm but on an 25mm is just amazing. Perfect painting if you ask me!

    Cheers,

Thanks Gino2dope, this scale is my advantage. On the other hand, I tried 75mm and it is very difficult to paint it to my expectation.

I agree 100%. Hard to believe you achieved that level of detail on a 25/28mm face. And thanks for the SBS on the black armor. You made it look easy (which it obviously isn't)!

Thanks Bob, I like paint faces and on smaller scale it is easier to me.

I promised some silver nmm tutorial on Facebook, so some preparatins was made.

Colors from original paint, only grey colors. I ignored the blue tone. But the original paint is good reference, how light looks on shapes. Look at pictures with rotation.

Colors on real silver. It is posible, that yellow tone in highlights is tone from light, but I like it and Scale75 nmm set has silmilar color. Coincidence? Note sharp gradients to dark tones and highlights and overall midtones.

Another example, again yellowish tone in the highlights, again sharp gradients and reflections.

About one hour of experiments in Gimp. Colors are taken from previous examples. Sorry for my poor skill

    Suggestions are welcome
