Pffft! You can't fool me. I know you painted that "view" on the wall in your cell because you were captured by GW and chained to a desk to paint. It was bound to happen given your talent.

i am enjoying the view, and the sound of the waves crashing on the rocks below, for sure...

@Zab: i paint way too slow for GW to ever hire me...

Christmas day is coming to a close in Mexico...
i hope everybody had a good day, and got some cool toys...
i have a bunch of reading ahead, with the new Blood Angels Codex, and the Shield of Baal books, Leviathan and Exterminatus!!!

even though it is Christmas, it is also Throwback Thursday...
in the spirit of the day, here is a little snowy scene...

this SAS Trooper is one of my favorite Infinity sculpts...
the real world look, along with the quality of an Infinity mini, is a great combo...
when i found this base from Dark-Age, i knew i had a setting that was perfect for the pose...
the little brick on the ground really sets off the sculpt, as he sneaks through the debris...

this was my first time using anything other than GW snow, which is rubbish...
the Secret Weapon Winter Basing Kit has some really nice snow in it...
    much more realistic looking...
unfortunately, i have never been able to get good pics of this guy...

    thanks for looking...

    cheers

    Happy New Year!!!

i hope everyone enjoyed their holidays...

i took a week off from posting, but not from work...
i'll be taking pics of the finished Whirlwind, and second Stormraven, tonight...

    today is Throwback Thursday again...
these weeks sure do go by quickly...
tonight i'm taking it back to a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away...
this is the Knight Models 72mm Boba Fett, my last finished mini of 2013...
i really enjoyed working in the bigger scale, even if it is a lot tougher to make the paint work look good...
not much room for mistakes on these large surfaces...
getting the contrast in the fatigues, and the texture in the cloak, was a fun experiment...

    thanks for looking...
    i hope you like him...

    thanks, KruleBear...

here are the finished pics of the Whirlwind i teased before Christmas...
i have wanted to paint this kit since it was released, so i enjoyed this one...
there is just something so cool about the big missile launchers...

i got the full step-by-step set of pics while i was working on this and the second Stormraven, so i will have the breakdown of this scheme as soon as i get through editing all those pics...

    thanks for looking...

Nice! I loved the whirlwind too. It was pretty damn effective too since you could choose to lay mines with it or have incendiary barrages as a Dark Angels player. I used it for indirect barrages and and denial of attack vectors. I still lost a lot of games. Good times, good times. Painting is more fun though

@Zab: i'm sure my client will have fun blowing up his opponent's troops with the Whirldwind...

here is the second Stormraven in this commission...
i had fun with the canopies again, and switched it up a little, too...
close-ups next time, and the full step-by-step for the paint scheme soon...

Ah, the Whirlwind... something I always wanted to field and paint, untill I saw the stats for its weapon. The way it's described it's always the ooh and aah catapult of doom boomsticks, but then the stats make it seem it's only suited to take out large hordes of tightly clusted drunk snotlings. That being said, I'm still tempted by its MLRS look.
But in all seriousness, Marines should get something like this:

The Storm Cube is looking pretty decent as well, although I still think the weathering patches are just a bit too random. It's looking banged up, that's for sure.

@Meph: that's funny, people usually gripe it weathering looks too uniform, not too random...
that said, it would look a lot better if i wasn't speed painting...
    cool video clip!!!

    here are the close-ups...
sorry the pics aren't the best...
now i need to edit the step-by-step photos...

    hey CMON...

    Throwback Thursday again...
this time we take it back to 2009, and a mini, Mephiston, that got a lot of mixed reviews...
this was my first time trying to make a more modern version of a venerable old mini...
working with Greenstuff press-molds for the first time, this process saved me from a lot of fine detail sculpting that I just don't have the ability to do...
one of these days i will have to try and make an even better version of Mephiston...

    thanks for looking...

he's got that Rocky Horror Pictureshow thing going on...
    can't hate Tim Curry...

here's a little peek at what i'm working on right now...
looks like Yertle, the tank stacking turtle, was here...
i get to paint a trio of my favorite Rhino variant, the Vindicator!!!

it is 10:30 PM on Wednesday in Mexico...
just a few hours until i'm back with Throwback Thursday...
what will it be, GW or PP???

    here ya go, Meph...

    Throwback Thursday again...
    this week it's from 2012...

i am a huge fan of the different Forge World characters in Terminator armor...
    the detail is just incredible...
this one, Lord Hextor Rex, has got some very fine battle damage sculpted on, and when i was hired to paint a version of the Grey Knights Grand Master Lord Khaldor Draigo using this model, i was excited to get to paint a dirty, beat-up version of a Grey Knights model...

it's about to get informative again, GreenOne...

time to get back to some actual WIP stuff...

here are the first four steps of the Ultramarines scheme...
first is a black spray (pic 1)...
then i tape the parts i want to remain black (pic 2)...
then i spray a navy blue, and remove the masking tape (pic 3)...
then come the proper basecoats, P3 Thamar Black, P3 Exile Blue, P3 Pig iron for the steel, P3 Molten Bronze for the eagles and skulls, and P3 Bloodstone for the cockpit glass (pic 4)...

four more pics to come tomorrow...
i hope they will be helpful...

    cheers
