So, SH folks, (and others who can be objective about it), what are your plans for Specialists (or or other faction folks, what do you expect to see us SHers run)?

My initial plan was to use 3 Fulung Dragons and Deathbloom for the full 8 points most games. Occasionally 4 FDs for those silly times, lol.

Seeing the stats of the 3rd infantry makes me wonder if running 2 FDs, Deathbloom, and the 2 rank 1 guys would be better, or 2 FDs, Deathbloom, and 6 more infantry.

    Thoughts?

Anyone think of a good reason to run straight Fulung Dragons (4)?

What are you planning to run?

One of the reasons I'm curious is I reopened my Pledge Manager to add some stuff for some buddies and was thinking of dropping my FDs from 4 (3+1 Free) to 2, as I'm rethinking running more than 2, and could spend the $20 on something else like Gold Oil cards, lol.

While the Fulung Devourer is an impressive model and I fully expect to see one or two of them Shepherding the Dragon Legionnaires along, I think any more would be overkill. Don't get me wrong, they make big scary targets, but they do not have the best offensive output for your points. a 4 die 8 range attack is nice, but it is limited by your targets having to be in a straight line.

Using Rank 1 Specialists or additional infantry will give you a higher starting morale, and we still have 2 specialists that we haven't seen the stats for yet.

Deathbloom brings more maneuverability with 4 dice of attack, granted these are spread across targets within 3" of the initial target, but that does give her an 8"+ possible range.

The Shield of Taelfon, while only having 1 attack die, his attacks reduce the resilience of the target, meaning he only needs a single strike to damage anyone. Nice to whittling down other Rank 2 characters.

Not too sure what to do with the Hammer of Heaven though, I just haven't found a niche that he seems to fill yet.

That would be Hong Yao, the Red Demon

Hong Yao may have been the very first of the Children, though his transformative blessing did not come from the War Goddess. In his darkest hour, Hong Yao prayed to the Fire Lord, and was answered. His former identity was stripped away, and he became the Red Demon. He alone survived the doomed mission to Telloria, and he alone faced the scorn and dishonor at his failure and transformation. More than a decade has passed, however, and Hong Yao has once more found his place in the Dragon Legion. The indoctrination of the Children into the regular armed forces has salved his wounded pride somewhat, but he is still a different creature when compared to the Children. Where their powers are decidedly supernal, his are irrefutably infernal. In battle, he fights alone. His fiery breath can devastate a line, and his direct, brutal style makes short work of larger foes.

Do we know what base size he will be? 40mm like the Children, or 50mm like the Warchild (Children Character Leader)?

Which is why I was asking opinions of other folks with vast miniatures experience as well as those who, like Swan, have been proxying WoK games for some time now. I myself have over 35 years of miniatures wargaming experience suspect I have some fairly accurate theories as to what will work best for me. I expect others will as well, and I'm sure there are some I haven't thought of. And like you say, there will undoubtably still be some surprises. I was just trying to Guage if it was worth $20 more to have 3-4 FDs. I've come to the conclusion it is not, at least right away out of the box. The, "4 for the price of 3" deal sounded pretty good, but that's a lot of points to tie up into just 4 attacks and 4 targets.

    Neither - he's on a 30.

In regards to the Hammer of Heaven...I love this guy.

His offensive insight gives models Enchanted AND Suppression - that immediately creates issues for Nasier, Gortisi AND Hadross. It also pitches fits for a number of Teknes models. On top of that he is a massive tar pit, with three wounds, the ability to pull multiple models into contact, an aura 2" of rough terrain and Enlightenment (1) so he can take advantage of any other insight. This guy is capable of multiple shenanigans, dragging high res/wound models into contact for whatever you have surrounding him. He also provide excellent lane control. He makes me smile.

Wow! This is what I was missing by not having proxied anything yet! The stuff I snipped I realized, but hadn't put together the lane creation possibilities yet. It's obvious now that you've mentioned it, and will combo quite nicely with the Lotus Ladies movement shennanigans and my assassination play style! I now love this guy as well!

How many of Heaven's Hammers come with the FS? 2?

Also, thanks or the answer on the base size. (Trying to predict how many faction bases I need to add for character leaders and specialists).
