Default Western Front Hero Discussion (Ideas and Thoughts)

Hey, everyone. I thought it might be fun to discuss unit ideas for new heroes for the Ruskas, Ottomans, Water Units, Air Units, and other such things now that we have been exposed to all of Eastern Front's? Even is you haven't gotten to use them, I still feel there's enough out there to Get some idea of the units.

    I'll start.

I think a Russian Sniper Woman would be a good hero to combat Erwin. Maybe some similarities with having large amount of range and two attacks in same grid. Maybe different buffs?

I also think a big daddy character who is a more BAMF Diver character could be cool.

Maybe a Prince of Thieves for the Ottomans? Something of the sort. Maybe an Elephant Warrior who acts as a tank with lower armor but high health? Maybe something like that?

Ok, let's work with this, let's spread some ideas.

I like those ideas I also think a Generic Nurse would be cool plus perhaps some specialist Blight Advisors. I must admit I find the idea of an irrate cook amusing - not sure how he would be used but I'm sure someone can come up with some ideas.

Maybe the neutral Unit "Marta" who gives everyone +1 movement as a buff. Maybe giving the "runs" to any enemy unit they are closed to, making them not attack or move for a round. That could be very amusing.

I like the idea of another nurse character. Rosie the Riveter is the closest thing we have at the moment... or the Allied Shield Dogs.

Are there any special Russian heroes or Ottoman Heroes we could draw from? Maybe a Legionaire or something? Enver Pasha- a famous Ottoman general.

How about a Rasputin type giving the troops a morale boost

Ive been thinking about this a lot. (tried to post but don't think it worked other times)
We love the heroes, although they don't get a lot of use, they are the character of the faction, which is why the more spoofy/cliché they are the better they work.
In that vain I think there has to be a risks Uri Molotov type character.
I picture a slightly over sized rivet with a thick beard and a burning bottle in each hand.
Maybe with two flat grid attacks that have to target the same grid.
Possibly he only have one grid movement because he's been sampling his concoction, but can rapid assault three grids once per game in drunken rage, but a dice roll is needed to decide the ending grid, 2 - 5 fine, 1 or 6 staggers off one grid left or right.

Maybe a ghostbuster type flamer hero or unit type that can shoot 2 diagonals, but again similar dice roll to see if spurt goes wide, but the flame causes damage in both the first and last square, so you could burn friendlies.

Definitely think we need some neutral heroes that are cavalry/ support types that take up 2 squares too.

Nice. I have been playing around with Fire rules that work similarly to Gas except they do not move. Also, I think flame throwers and trench raiding units are under-utilized, as well as Gas-enabled units. More units that use gas would be great!

I really like the idea of neutral tanks or calvalry units. Something to break up the monotony of the game.

Rasputan could be a good choice. Maybe something like every time he takes damage he needs to be redeployed (to represent him dying then coming back to life) and his health would be the redeploys he has?? That could be fun! Would he have magic ranged attacks or powerful melee attacks? Hmm? And whose side would he be? He could be a revolutionary.

How about a mob of militia or scared armed townsfolk. I'm thinking a mob of maybe six minis on one grid base, like a sturmpanzer.
So they're scared and neutral so will attack anybody in range as they are sick of their town being attacked by both sides, maybe they get one dice against all units up to three armour as they've scavenged various weapons, but a dice roll before hand tells you how many attempts they get each turn, designated by the opponent player.
So they move by deviation each turn, shooting after the player has. So basically they are a 'shared unit' between the players, alternating control of firing each turn.
This could really shake up the game.
As Ted has stated there will be armour valued houses in western front, maybe on destruction, a building that is uninhabited by either players units spawns one of these mobs?

I love that. I was gonna have something similar with my rivet homes, but this is fantastic. A mob of figures as one unit could be cool. Like a tank with low armor but a good amount of health.

I would also love to play around with different handlers as well. What would the Russian Dogs be able to do that the other two haven't? What about the Ottomans?

How about a neutral bomber that has very limited attacking ability but can be used as a spawn point so can drop 2 or 3 infantry units per turn using a deviation flip to decide the drop grid around it, 'Asad's Air taxi/bus.' It would need suitable support but could make for interesting scenarios, or maybe an Ottoman bomber type of itself, or a substitute for a heavy metal unit. I'm picturing a flat bed with a helicopter prop on each corner. Maybe the units have to be deployed onto it only in the deployment zone and are killed if it's destroyed, but because it's a full grid in size it could fit up to 6 infantry.
If it was quite rapid/high-movement it would compliment the the Ottoman troop carrying tanks well if their signature is more of an infantry swarm faction.
Or maybe just a hero plug that allows this ability to a lesser degree similar to terranova's but airborne?

I love this idea. I was going to throw a similar idea out for "Airship Pirates" as a neutral Air unit/bomber.

I'm honoured that you'd try one of my designs at all, let alone so soon in your 3d versions, you don't know how much it made my day to see this, loving the riveted armour plates on the body too : )

These are all pretty cool. Shame we haven't heard more. Apparently there'll be more blight and allied units with a water expansion. I wonder if the second wave will be even bigger and better then the last one.

Asatru, we may have discussed this before but do you have a facebook where you display these as well? I would like to "share" these if you have put these up before.
