Default Terrain - Pedion Modular Battlefield System

    Hello all, this is George
I am a gamer since 1991 and love miniature painting and wargaming. I have even been an outside guest looking through these forums many a time...

I wanted to share with you my recent effort in designing a completely modular Terrain System for wargames, which I call Pedion™ (means "field" in Greek )
The whole thing started to cover my own needs, since I wanted a decent looking battlefield, which I could assemble and disassemble easily, in multiple configurations, and store away in tight places - so Pedion was born.

I am taking the next step, and design Pedion to get into mass production, but it is not there yet. So I present my design process in a series of Blog posts, to see what people think and get valuable feedback.
I would be honored for your opinions and comments.

So far, I have described Pedion in four blog posts:
The first describes my Requirement on a Modular Terrain System - http://pedionterrain.blogspot.gr/201...m-modular.html
The second my decision on Tile Shape and Size - http://pedionterrain.blogspot.gr/201...n-modular.html
The third my ongoing process of choosing the right materials and achieving tile connectivity with magnetic hardpoints - http://pedionterrain.blogspot.gr/201...rials-for.html
And my most recent, fourth post, beginning to show off the particular tile kinds that Pedion will include, starting with Plain Grass and Broken Ground - http://pedionterrain.blogspot.gr/201...hem-grass.html

I sincerely hope that you will find it interesting and give me pointers
    Good gaming!

Very interesting project. I will follow your progress and might get inspired myself to finally tackle such an epic project.

I like the basic designs, but would wonder if some more variation in hight like hills, gorges and riverbeds would be something to consider.

Thank you very much! stay tuned! It is epic, but only because of the size, but also trying to streamline the whole process into something that could be "mass" produced, ie make more similar copies
There will be height variation, of course! The sole reason I use polystyrene foam is to create depressions like rivers, craters, trenches etc, and there will be hill tiles, presented in future posts. You can glimpse some early pictures of Hills in Pedion's facebook page and twitter
Finally, I am designing a system of sloping tiles, to allow major height variations including large parts of the battlefied - probably a Stretch Goal when Pedion goes to Kickstarter

I'm proud to present my latest blog post, on the Forest tiles for my Pedion modular terrain system. I hope you like the way you can move the trees to allow unit movement and placement! I would welcome your comments and ideas
