Coming down the home stretch on this one, then it will be time to drill holes in it and hook her to the machines.

Thanks. It is color shift paint so it changes from blue to purple as you change angles.

so is the color shift mostly from the automotive paint or the Greenstuff World paint? If I remember right you said you used the one and applied the other over it, but I think you may have stripped it down since then? But I have to agree, that metal looks really good and liking the effect.

Back for a moment to the Red Baron. Almost done with this. Have a little touch up to do on the base and bust and some weathering and rigging to do on the plane. The plane was way out of my comfort zone and a very frustrating project having never built one before. (of course I had to pick one of the most difficult

Glad you like them. It took a few years and a lot of experimenting to get them right.

    Thanks guys.

I took some classes at NOVA last week on using inks instead of paint for blending. Dark base coats. White highlights. Add color with inks. This was my first attempt using the new method. I had tried painting this several times before and was ready to throw it out. Since I had nothing to lose, I decided it would be a good test piece. This is three hours in. Still some work to do, but pleased so far.

Congratulations on your success at Nova.
The orc looks great. I love the effect of layering inks, though I find it difficult to photograph.

For my next play session I decided to practice some of the stuff Roman Lappat showed us in his Dramatic Lighting class at NOVA. I also tried a new primer that ruined the piece. It is covered with speckles so I thought I would try a rough draft before I stripped it. This is the general plan for it when I restart it tomorrow.

Thanks. Took a bunch of painting classes at NOVA Open and wanted to practice what I learned while it was still fresh in my mind. Just got back from redoing the primer on Dumah, after stripping it. (and a nice motorcycle ride through the woods) Ready to do it for real.

After stripping and restarting the Dumah bust I think I made the right decision. Here is the updated version 2.0. This was done using what I learned in Roman's (jarhead) class on Creative Lighting along with some of what I learned in the Monster Flesh class from Matt DiPietro. Also uploaded it to the gallery should anyone care to vote on it.
