Default General Darg - Start to Finish in One Day

I can't believe it took me four years to realize that the most important tool for painting is a friggin hard dryer. What use to take months, waiting for paint to dry, I can now do in a day. Here is my second one day project from start to finish.

    11am:

Base Coats done. Reaper Rosy Skin for the flesh, Vallejo Burnt Umber for the gold, and Scale 75 black for the silver.

Next step was a wash with Citadel Druchii Violet, and rough in the eyes with Vallejo Ivory mixed with White Ink and Liquitex Flow Aid, followed by a glaze of yellow ink.

I followed this up with a wash of Citadel Guilliman's Blue

Next was another wash with Druchii Violet to tone down the blue, and glazed the eyes with red ink.

Roughed in the metallic sections, and added the pupils

Worked on the metallics with several different shades of Scale 75 golds and bronzes as well as several ink washed. Went through and shaded everything with a mixture of Druchii Violet and Dark Blue ink to increase the contrast. Followed that up with Black Ink shading in all the areas where the flesh meets the metal and between the metal plates.

Mixed Reaper Rosy Highlight with Druchii Violet wash and Lahmian Medium to do the final highlights and mounted it to the stand after a final spray with Testors Dull Cote

Nice one, now if only I could actually paint a single miniature in one day... I might say that the eyes could do with a pupil or something or maybe some white in the corner of them

Re-worked his eyes as suggested. I think he looks better now.

I have been working on the bust from Life Miniatures off and on for the last month or so. My local IPMS club has its bi-annual show next month at a local fire house so I did this piece in their honor. (and because they are awarding a plaque for the best 1st Responder model) 23 Engine, Baltimore City Fire Department is where my father spent much of his career.
