Looks pretty cool so far. Maybe also add a squirrel or birds nest as well.

So I've been working on a couple things for World Expo in July... I'm finishing up the base for my wolf... let me know what you think..I'm not too happy with the snow..I'll try to smooth it out tomorrow.. The water pour was as flawless as I could get it so I was really happy about that.. I used envirotex.. no tackiness, but it did come out a bit dark.

The brown spot left over is where the wolf is going. I'm going to leave that open until I finish painting the wolf so I can attach it and the snow at the same time. Thanks!

I agree, that the snow is not smooth, but I like it better this way. It has some texture to it making it more dinamic for me.
The water from the side looks cloudy. I don't know if it is because you wanted it this way or if it's not fully cured yet. But MassiveVoodoo just released a tutorial on it and it seems, that there is a gloss-like product for making it clear(er).
Plus it's probably just me, but I'd darken the bases of the stones a bit more with 1-2 blueish-black glaze.
    Forgot, that it works again.

Icicles look really nice. I might pile up a second layer of the snow in a few places where the wind might have collected it. Displaying a few deeper drifts would give the scene a bit more natural history, perhaps. Looking good, Lost! I'm digging the resin water.

I like the snow as it is, it feels quite natural to me that it's uneven

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I like your idea SaintToad Are you thinking I should add some more against the rocks/trees?

I was hoping for less cloudy/dark water, but I think I ended up putting too much tint in the mixture.. As for the stones, I think that might make it a little more bleak, so I'll give it a shot! Thanks!

Yeah, I'd approach it almost like OSL. It looks to me like your thickest volumes at the moment are pushed up against the bottom of the triangular rock (on the right) on the top level and (conveniently) right in the middle of the lower level, but again against the right side. You see where I'm talking about? I would set that as the direction of the wind, and very selectively build up at the foot of all your various objects a little snow deposit, while leaving the sides and especially the rear free from the drifts, with more exposed earth & rock in those areas. Go slow, you don't want to mess up the nice work you've already done!

Snow looks pretty good to me, but I agree with Maxxxx that the rocks in the water seem a little to bright of blue.

Agreed..those are supposed to be ice chunks..I reviewed the tutorial on how to do them and have to DB white over them again..

I didn't meant those, but the rocks on the top. To have a bit bigger contrast in value between the bottom part of them and the rest. will do a quick PS image when I get home to show what I thought.

for cloudy water: it seems only the side is like that, from the top looks clear enough for me.
I still think you can make the sides clear too easily based on this tutorial: http://massivevoodoo.blogspot.de/201...component.html

That makes sense. In addition to Maxxx's comment below, the chuncks I have seen in rivers ir streams would either be flatter on top or if rounder like yours then smaller. I think you could just get by with adding white as you said or adding your snow mixture to the tops of the chunks.

Wow those are some beautiful bases... if only mine looked like those lol

And I agree with you MAXXxxx...If I darken the bases of the rocks on the ground it should look a little colder..thanks for the suggestion! Looks like I have some stuff to fix!

I'll try sanding the resin I poured with 2000 grit sandpaper to see if it clears up a little... not sure yet..The project is so close to being done I don't want to ruin it lol

Well thank you! If the piece captured a cold atmosphere, then I think it worked out! Thanks!

so, here is all I thought of, nothing special, probably not even needed. I used only the "burn" tool in PS, so no extra blue/brown colors, just darkened, what's already there.
The bottom part (ice, water, snow) is untouched, I think they look good.

A possible problem is that the snow will easily pick up any color, so have to be done carefully, so not to affect it.

Well thank you! That helps visualize the suggestions a lot better! I definitely like it darker at the base of the rocks. Looks like I have some work to do tonight! Hopefully I'll have pictures of the edited stuff by tomorrow.

I think I see what you're seeing I need to build up some snow at the top right against the tall rocks right?

Hey everyone... I could use some help...I can't really figure out how to paint my wolf.. his fur is supposed to be predominately black with some brown. I'm not really sure how to start it and highlight. I was thinking of doing a dark brown undercoat and then doing multiple washes of black for shadows, and probably a dark grey highlight. Suggestions? Thanks a bunch...gotta get crackin on this stuff July will be here before I know it!

Well, I can't believe it, but after almost three years of not finishing a single project I've started, I finally got one done! This is the more or less completed version of my wolf entry for world expo in Chicago this July. Questions/comments welcome! Thanks for the pointers to those that did the pointing! Now to start on the next one and hope I finish it in 20 days...lol...

The lighting in this pic makes the wolf look more brown than it really is

Just got to blow the loose snow off, sign it, and slap a name plate on it, and done!
