Good luck with the bust. Try to work on soft and subtle shading for her face, definitely important for those female characters. You can do more dramatic shading on the hair and clothing (which then gives a nice contrast to the soft face).

The pictures in the latest post aren't showing up for me, though that may be my connection blocking the site that's hosting.

Thanks BAM. I think the score it received was fair. I'm not really up there when it comes to painting, so I don't expect more than a 6 or 7 most of the time.

Oh and I've been told that you are the authority on painting orks... any chance you can share that secret too? I have a BUNCH of ork projects that I want to do; I got scale 75's ork flesh paint set, and it seems like it includes some good colors. I would very much appreciate your opinion. Thanks again!

Yep! The great thing about orks is that you don't have to be careful with clean lines and angles... randomness is key.

Hey does anyone know of any sci-fi model manufacturers that make big robot or machine models, other than forgeworld and GW? I'm looking for some mech-warrior type models and sci-fi tanks. Thanks!

Finally had some time to paint... not too much progress, but something is better than nothing. I feel like my skill has gone down from not painting for so long. Here's a picture of what I'm currently working on. Enjoy.

Right now the mini is basically primed and pre-shaded. I'm going to try to paint the mini using the zenithal lighting process - I've never done that before. From what I can tell, I have to add the color of the "light source" to the highlight areas of the mini using blending or glazing. If anyone has any tips or if I'm missing something, I'd love to hear what you have to say.

Also, I'm going to try TMM on the armor of the mini.. barely started on the sword.. anyone have any tips? Thanks in advance!

Had a little time to paint this weekend and made some progress on the sword blade. I think it turned out ok for my first try at TMM... if anyone has suggestions or comments, it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

I also had time to start on a base for GW's Necron Overlord model. When I saw that model, it was a must have for me.

I'm thinking of having the overlord in the center of the base, framed by two necron obelisks (black squares on the base). The black lines coming from the center of the base are going to be cracks. I want to try and make it look like the overlord slammed his staff in the ground and cracked it, thereby awakening other necrons. And for those necron aficionados, if you look at the cracks on the top of the base closely, you'll see that they are going to look like the necron symbol.

The base was made by supergluing 2 different thicknesses of cork.

Anyone have suggestions on how to make the obelisks? Thanks!
