Hopefull;y picking up my box tomorrow if manager will let me out with it quietly.

I want it to do well as its what fantasy needed, a lower barrier to entry and something a bit different.

Give it 6 months before decrying doom.

Away to paint my free sigmarite in a NMM turquoise i think...

I'm not sure. It pretty much killed all interests in my country (hu).

as for painting the WD one... I was thinking about a candy-red with some underlying patterns. Like the FW chaos scorpion thingy.
(also I shouldn't have watched the NMM of Ben. Now I want one like that too)
    Forgot, that it works again.

Havent seen that video yet, ill need to dig it out.

As for killing the interest, i think this is GW's one big mistake. They have been far too quiet about this release. The silence until the last minute i get with standard releases, it creates a sudden impulse buy splurge, but for your main new game system, let people see it, build up interest, dont let rumour fester and fear be the foundation for your new game, as it will only set itself up to be hated...at least initially.

However i feel GW is ready to put its money in for this game, so i await the first expansion and new army models other than the chaos\sigmar ones.

Impressive that you that the interest has been killed in ALL of your country.

There are alot of reports from all over the world, of sold out WD's and recordbreaking pre order numbers.

And judging the response by ghe hate on various forums would be a mistake, as the ones hating by a large margin are not the target audience.

This game is not aimed at the hard core warhammer neckbeards, and sorry for sounding harsh, and all the old grognards.

This is a game for the future, for new generations of players used to things being simple and acsessible.

And i find it sad that people can throw so much hatred at a product not even released yet, and a product that is only the first tiny drop in a very large bucket.
The odds of succesfully finishing this miniature is 3720:1

well I want to paint one or two models, but that's all the interest I have.

as for the country's players... for the gaming community this may have been the last straw. For years because of pricing and bad rules the players were drifting towards other games more and more. Atm it looks like even KoW has more players than WHFB with only one or two who might buy the new box to look at it before deciding on keeping or ebaying it.

i guess it can't be said that GW don't take risks lol, not that i agree this was one in particular was a good idea, i preferred the days of their specialist games as entry points to the game, blood bowl remains my favorite GW game, though i can see the models for it arent exactly cross compatible with warhammer, but warhammer quest and possibly mordheim (i've never played it but it appears to use models that could be used for fantasy battles) seem more along the lines of a good entry point, especially as their specialist games used to be cheaper than 40k/fantasy for the starter box sets

that said, i dont actually play warhammer fantasy or 30k, mainly because i get bored painting whole armies, but i can see why people would be upset by AoS, i personally am still interested to see new models :P unfortunately i missed the chance to get WD, already sold out here before i got to the shop, and i wasnt gonna pay £7.50 bus fair to go to the nearest GW to see if they had it

we can still help you. depending on if I can get some sigmarines for a good price I could send one or two.
I really want just one winged one, but I think the only option will be half-box, not individual models.
    Forgot, that it works again.

That would be cool, there's a chance the store has it, its just a department store and usually gets things late, but I'm not holding my breath. I mainly thought of it as a cheap model to practice metals on, I'm more interested to see what they do with the other races but I'm guessing they will be releasing sigmarites for a few weeks yet

Meh. The hate i see for this is ridiculous. The minis are cool, they are reinvesting into fantasy, fantasy needed a flagship mini type (like the space marines for 40k), and even better, the prices!

Think about the value in this box alone. About 2 pounds each for incredible minis. And the box contains 2 big and cool monsters. GW may just have turned me into a fan boy again. I don't really care about gaming, but the rule changes seem light hearted and fun. Great for new players, great for kids. Neck beards and hard core gamers can and will investigate more hard core games anyways. I´ve been missing the light hearted prestige free game and rule books since the 3rd edition starter set with brettonians and lizardmen.

The only thing I have a real issue with is the disproportionate sizing they used. I got a look at the minis yesterday and most of the heads look freakishly small, I mean really tiny. Even the one large chaos beasts head if freakin' minuscule. But hey, worse come to worse I can use bits to modify DArk Angels figures.

So a quick rules question for anyone that might know...

Since the shape of base no longer matters, would non-standard (mini-diorama) based special units and monsters be able to be used in the game now?

It looks like they converted WHFB into WH40K with fantasy models. No more rank and file and that was what made fantasy so fun and unique and got me into warhammer in the first place. They should have made this into its own specialty game like Mordheim rather than completely change a major IP.

Yea I'm not too sure what all the fuss is about... so GW developed a new game... big deal... I agree the models look a lot like space marines (Sanguinary Guard), but there is nothing that says you can't play a normal WHFB game with whatever rule book you want, as long as your opponent agrees with it.

If you have the books and the models, play whatever the hell you want... no one is stopping you. The beauty of these games is that the worlds are so huge (even in fantasy) that you can keep playing games with different scenarios as long as you want... the only real limit is your imagination.

As for AoS, I wasn't a fan of the End Times, so I kinda just ignore it. I'm just glad GW is still around producing models and continuing to stay in business. I can only imagine the amount of complaining that would be going on if they went out of business. You can't expect them to please everyone with what they produce. Plus, no one is forcing you to buy their new stuff.

I'm not sure if that would have worked, we all know how 'good' GW are with supporting games other then their main three.
