I’ve taken to painting space marines as a means to improve my baseline painting skills. Just meat & potatoes marines in different colors. Here’s the first, warts & all! You can see more images & read more about him on the website.

Love the idea of bashing out space marines to level up.
Although, in your case "bashing out" seems to mean "paint at a superb level". This looks awesome Rhett!

Thanks so much, friends. I have another marine in the pipeline... my first smurf! So far Big Blue looks better than the Green Meanie.
Meanwhile, I finally finished this fellow off. You can see more pictures (and gimme a vote!) over on P&P.

You know it my man! Milliput over plastic card. Lots of messy fun painting it up. Sometime during the process of painting the model the phrase ‘exotic meats’ just planted itself in my brain.

Thanks bud! I would not have known that otherwise, so I appreciate you telling me.

I admit, I was a bit shocked to see you working on a space marine, but the logic is sound. They are very blocky and great for practicing chiaroscuro on. That's a lot of grass for a space marine base though, he must be some sort of advance scout, not enough orbital bombardment yet.

I love the finished Kobold. So much depth of shading and color in his face. But no, I do not want any of his meats...

Nice to see you khavor, glad you like my little dudes. Keep in mind, though, the exotic meats are very affordable. Something to think about.

Anyway, project space marine is still moving ahead. I have an Ultramarine maybe halfway done. However, the practice, while valuable, was sapping what little remains of my spirit in these depressing times, so I started another project a couple of days ago.

I can relate to your comments on painting the smurf. Painting space marines to a high standard requires a lot of patience, more than I thought it would to be honest.

Congrats on the recognition on FB. I follow their updates and was really glad to see your work featured there. They highlight top-quality work and the Kobold definitely deserved to be there!

This new sculpt looks really cool. I could see it being a character from Star Wars and it has some interesting textures to tackle as well. I look forward to seeing how you get on with him/her!

The new bust is looking great! I agree that the glint in the visor is really sells it. Looking forward to seeing updates/completed piece
