work is boring when it gets in the way of my painting.
Cheers loudly, guys. I’m glad you like him and his little grocery list. He was a challenge, but a good one. Here is the finished cult weirdo. You can of course see a bunch more and better pics on Putty & Paint. Here’s the link.

Epic work StToad! Love the lighting on this guy.
Thanks guys. Appreciate it.
Here’s a little experiment from this past weekend. Might work on him some more, might not.

Good lord these are good.. how long did it take you to get to this standard?
Thanks, flavour flav. Glad you like them! If you mean how long have I been painting, I think I started around Fall 2014. You could get to where I am (or better) a lot faster with the right attitude and enough time in the day to paint. More importantly, everyone’s journey and relationship with painting is different, so there’s really no saying. This is where I am, but you would end up somewhere else in six years time. But if you get in the mindset to improve, you can ride that a pretty good ways.
Ok, ‘nuff philosophizing. Here’s some fresh paint.

Sweet job, glad you will be in a skill different level if you ever get back to NOVA Open!![]()
StToad you are killing it! You are really nailing these skin tones, eyes, teeth, they look utterly fantastic. And your painting is not just technically great, it is expressive as hell.
It is impressive to see, and very very inspiring.
Great Job Rhett, did you see you made the lasted Cult of Paint YouTube video? Very well deserved as well
Eki, man, I just want to hang out and see you guys. I’ll no doubt be taking my lumps up with the big boys.
Gorb, that’s wonderful to hear. I hope as I get better at clarifying and expressing my visual imagination it does speak to some people. That’s pretty much the whole goal, right, to articulate your own thoughts & feelings in a way that others understand and enjoy.
Tim, I was super stoked to see the cultist on CoP. I confess I’ve watched it like a half dozen times now!
Anyway, I failed after about a week’s trying on a historical, but I wasted no time jumping on this Zaba daba doo. Getting close-ish to done, but I’m planning a fairly substantial effect at the end. As always I’d love to hear what you think of this one.
Been enjoying everyone else’s posts, as well. Hope you’re doing great, staying healthy, and painting up a storm.
Don't worry about beeing able to transmit your imagination man, your busts looks soooo alive, it's outrageous.
And the eyes... they say the eyes is the reflexion of the soul. Well your minis definitely have one.
This looks awesome! Yeah, I agree, the eyes are something else. They look properly alive!
Beautifully painted again man.. there's some really talented folks on this site.. always inspirational to check in on you guys :-)
you are seriously killing it on the faces (not that the rest of the bust isn't spectacular too)!
