Always more fun to wing it a little on these things. Great ToadChapel post as always.

Sorry, more a little tongue in cheek humor about your post as you say just wing it, but then say you need to be very precise. Excellent article though and very informative (at least for me since I haven't done a lot of basing yet)

    Haha, nice. Obvious, then!
It is an odd balance, though. The kind of project I’m documenting is one of those creative exercises that relies upon a certain amount of felicitous solutions to unnecessary problems. This is a wall with a door, it will not have a roof; I had to think a while about how to do that in a way that will hopefully enhance the piece rather than mar the total effect. By the same token, I both need tight tolerances just to get it built and want the end result to look structurally neat. I really enjoy this way of getting my art on.

What are you using for the walling Toad? looks like some sort of expanded foam/modelboard?

Hey Hairster, thanks for stopping by.
It's just what we call foamcore over here. My wife had a big poster for her old job and I pulled of the printed paper exterior of one side. Because the back of the wall is still glued to the paper on the other side, you get nice divots when you pop a few bricks out.

Please let me know if pictures are showing up weird in my forum posts. I’ve gotten a new photo resizing app to allow me to upload from my phone, which I’ve not done before. CMoN has improved the mobile functionality, as well.

Looks great Toad, pics all good as well. Foam core all makes sense....same stuff over here I The UK. Will you do something to harden it up (prevent dink’s and damage) or just rely on the paint?

Photo resize apps make this place a lot easier(ish) to upload to. Still way behind most places but a bit easier.

Every time I walk away for a few hours I’m applying another layer of thinned wood glue. That’s why the wall’s getting progressively more yellow. It’s armored enough for me to superglue things to it without eating the foam and the wall itself it pretty good & hard. Fingers crossed!

Hey BaM, you spilled something, buddy. Some of that Nurgle shit you’re always using, no doubt, or some goblin rotgut.

Great work! Love the comic style of the painting so far.
Using wood glue to protect the foam is a good tip. Last time I built something with foam plates I used rattle can primer on it -.- Wasn't that smart ^^ The primer or something in there unleashed some exterminatus heresy BS upon my poor little diorama. *sniff* xD

The painting is really setting the mood of the scene! The creativity is off the charts of course too. It is a pleasure to see this eldritch piece come together. Keep the updates coming, Toad!
