I agree with BAM. You really can't have a painting competition where you award trophies for being the only entry in a category. That would devalue the work of the winners in the most competitive categories and the entire competition. It is unfortunate when the category you worked hard to compete in is eliminated, but winning an award by default holds very little value.

As for the integrity of the judging, I saw nothing that would give reason to question the results. Only the judges had the opportunity to pick up and closely inspect every entry as well as all of the photographs.

In my opinion, I think the reason why categories don't have the minimum number of entries is that the judging bar is set so far high above normal painters that they don't bother with doing it. So what's left is the same group of high skilled painters year after year making the first cut and placing in the same categories. I don't think that CB will grow like that. But then again, I'm not sure how much more of a monster it would be, logistically, if CB did grow. I entered 4 pieces this year, the best one in my opinion was the Kaha elephant figure. I knew that it had zero shot, but I got some feedback on it and I'm pretty proud of it. I'm not sure if I'm going to be doing any pieces for next year simply for the fact that I'm not at the skill level that CB requires. If we got like a score sheet like I heard the Dragonic Awards do, that would at least help me figure out what the hell I'm doing wrong.

I like the idea of a score sheet, I think that's something that the Draconic Awards do really well. It's a great way to give everyone some feedback.

Unfortunately, seeing how much work the judges and staff put in to get the photos up and all the pieces scored, it's doubtful they're going to want to take on more work! Still, this year it looked like they had all the entry stuff moved to the computer. So perhaps they could find a way to let you link to your piece and see the individual scores from the judges. Going the extra step and having each judge leave comments like the Draconic Awards would be wonderful, but I just don't see how they could do it for a competition this size.

It's a shame they took the time to photograph every entry but not share the pictures of all the entries. There was a lot worth seeing that didn't make the cut.

I agree Bailey, I knew that it's not really doable with a competition this size. I saw that Mr. Justin won a gold for his historical truck, I tried to find the other entries in that category on the site, but only had historical singles. Who won the silver and bronze in that category?

Khonner, no one, historical vehicle was merged with scifi vehicle/monster. So silver and bronze went to scifi minis.

Ah, that makes sense, the same thing that happened to BAM. Thanks
