Thanks everyone....too kind as usual. Had a lot on my plate last couple of weeks including finishing these pieces off for GD so apologies for the lack of replies and new posts...

Heading up to GD in the morning..looks like one of the strongest fields in a while so not banking on coming away with anything. Really excited to see everything on show though. Quick pick during pack up...lots of other bits on my Instagram if you fancy a look.

Best of luck! My only question is whether you get one award or two. I’ll go with... two!
Seriously, both pieces are superb, whatever the result. Have a blast!

Awesome day at GD. Standard was beyond nuts in most categories.

Picked up highly commended for my Doomscythe and a pin for the Tzeentch Knight (was down to the last 4 on the table but didn’t seem to give any commended cards out in this category) Beaten by that pesky Swede Stefan!

Looks like the US is getting GD back replacing crystal brush at adepticon, plus another global painting competition they are releasing news about soon.

    top day out

Congrats on the on the Highly Commended and pins! If you really want to deal with a pesky Swede, just take out a knee, which will most likely cause that person to drop whatever they are carrying Kidding aside, hope you had a good time and did you get to try out their new contrast paints? Curious on opinions of them as I won't see them live until they come out next month if I heard correctly.

Not sure on those contrast paints TBH Eki as I didnt really leave the GD cabinet area much.

From what others said they will be good for quick big batch tabletop painting to a certain standard. From what I could see they seemed to be a slightly finessed version of what Army Painter were doing with their dip shades a few years back. Prime, slather in base colour then add a few details.

How they can be used for display painting I'm not sure, some said that they maybe useful used over metallics etc but i guess that would need some experimentation to see the potential uses.

Cheers for the kind words as well!

Congratulations from me too. Haven't seen the winning pieces yet but from what I saw here in the forums I'm super excited to see how anything could be even better. Seems they need a second league on these competitions for mortal painters xD

    Thanks everyone, very much appreciated.

Long time no post! Been busy with family stuff so haven’t found the time to post here....been busy though in between...

First up I started back on my Black Templar Redemptor

Slow progress and very very fiddly work so I also started some quick experimental painting of a marine to see how quick I could put a meaningfully lit figure together....this was about 2 hours work based on a high contrast lilac and green zenithal airbrush basecoat and then working over the top with some brushwork

Then the news hit about the GW store based Everchosen comp so I started planning my piece for that....here’s my test scheme work for a Hive Tyrant - this forms the basis on what I’ve now started painting for the final piece

Yessir I think Everchosen is on everyone’s mind- me included. Love the start of these three projects- the HIVE is my favorite.

This looks delicious! The redemptor is coming along nicely - I dig the brushed metal effect you've got going. Although for the life of me I can't figure out how you make such accurate small lines - when I try it the paint on my brush dries on the way from the wet palette to the piece
The space marine test piece looks amazing for 2 hours of work. Wow.
And the hive tyrant looks absolutely amazing!

Love the way you’re mixing pastel colors with your patented super saturation on the bug. Great start!
