Hi,
after years of learning to paint, I decided to start a WIP topic.
Pictures are taken with my Op3nDott phone, so in the beginning do not expect extra high image quality.

I love how the minimalism of your first post builds up the tension :-p
Welcome and looking forward to your stuff!
First I would like to introduce my last Battle for Skull Pass model, the mighty troll.
This will be just a qick paintjob, to finish the 100+ BoSP models.
I started to paint it on 29 Apr:
Painted the base:
Put on the base colors:
And sprayed the white-yellow zenithal highlight:

One week ago I done the scars, and basecoated the bones and ropes:

And doing the golden medal:

On Saturday I painted the stone part of the sculpture and basecoated the bronze parts:

Yesterday I finished the NMM bronze parts, and washed it with Modelmates Verdigris.

These Modelmates paints are something fantastic.
I painted first an overall green wash, then on the deepest recesses some blue one.
They were very dark at first, when they were wet, but became something extraordinary nice verdigris after they are dried.
If you paint worn bronze or copper, it is a must have. And if you make some mistake, it can be easily removed with a wet brush.

Ok, I wished to put the pictures in a separate post so if I do some errors (as I have done), it can be easily fixed.![]()
Nice mini and a nice step by step...looking forward to seeing the results

Neat model. Thanks for sharing your journey.
I could finally finish all the troll, adding grass with Flockbox:

I am not 100% percent satisfied with Flockbox, noticed that the 6mm static grass was not really willing to jump up to the base, had more success with 2mm grass, has anyone experience with it?
Nice solid paint job. The base and verdigris on the idol are my favorite points. To get to the next level you wil want to push the contrast further to add more interest. For exmple if the shadows were darker under the muscles, they would pop more.
For the static grass, yours looks better than any attempt I have made. From what I Have read the only way to really be effective you need an applicator with a static generator. I Am looking at buying one, but they all look too big for controlled applications on miniature bases. They appear to be desighned for applying large areas on model railroad layouts.
Verdigris: it is from Modelmates ( http://www.modelmates.co.uk/product-...ots-verdigris/ ). Wonderful stuff, I can only recommend it.
Next level: stay tuned, this is only for gaming purpose and to test posting a WIP, I did not wish to go over the quality of my goblins. After the troll I will aim for display quality
Static grass: I used http://www.warpainter.net/Flockboxpages/Flockbox.html , it IS a cheaper static generator.

Those flock box gadgets look really useful, why am I only now learning of their existence?
I tried to convert electric fly swatter, too, Flockbox is definitely better, thou.
And here are two snapshots for the forest goblin riders:
On Sat I will finally test all the BfSP box in game, sadly the WHFB was discontinued by the time I could finish the box.
Good point is that my 7 and 9 years old daughters are about in the appropriate age to play AoS.![]()
Plans for the rest of the year:

will be interested how the big figure and Joan turns out. (maybe the chaos warrior too)
Forgot, that it works again.
I am jealous of the Brom mini.
Dwarven idol (is that one of those singing TV shows?) looks really cool. I agree that some more dramatic contrast would punch up the troll himself. I'm looking forward to your work on the hoard of minis you've got handy.
I planned to start with Brom's Child Thief, but after seeing Franciuus' one ( http://www.puttyandpaint.com/projects/9538 ) I need to find out whether I really wish to paint it "simply", according to to book cover.
And as I cannot find the base for Joan, I will start with Sigvald.
For base I planned some decorated floor tiles, with Sigvald stepping on a severed elf arm holding a sword.
The food tiles will be base on Staedtler Art nouveau texture sheet ( http://www.staedtler.com/en/products...exture-sheets/ ). As these are "positive"-s, I used some instant mold to create a negative, and some kind of ceramic plaster to pour the floor.
The sword arm will be a copy of the IoB Swordmaster's arm:
And a question: does anybody knows why has the Sigvald mini such supporting beams (circled in red)? I never seen such thing on any kind of mini before.
Finally the colors I plan to use (should be enough):
