Still coming along great man
thanks for comments. yes I agree the light is wrong on the lips at present. It was not quite as off balance but I tried tiding up the teeth and over darkened it. So I will probably wait until the teeth are finished then sort it out.
Cheers CC

Hello everyone, im back after another longish break. I have been working on finishing off a part time qualification and it completely took over for a while so no time for hobby.
I have had a few months aimlessly doing nothing other then rock climbing and working, no drive to anything hobby wise at all. Until last week the urge hit again to pick the brush up as it always does. I decided I needed to work on something a bit easer than the bust I had been working on last year, so I got myself some orcs and made a a start on one this weekend.
So yeah easing myself back into it. I have been trying a slightly different approach for this model. Painting small section by small section. Seems easier tacking all the flesh as the same time.
here's this weekends progress:

ahh, clean the mold lines on the pants and boot before you paint over it!I say that because I miss that crap all the time, trying to improve, but damn I think that stuff grows back sometimes.
Love the greens you are using!

a slight bit pf progress, I've not had much hobby time over this last week due to work. but i have managed get most how face done and started adding a little more light to his raised hand.
I will probably re-visit the face when more of the model is done, but for now I'm happy enough.

Know what you mean, I miss mold lines all the time and I figured you could fix it since it is just primed at the moment in those spots . The orc is looking really good!
You got a strong green going on there, keep it up!

im going away for a couple of weeks after today so I may well post progress from this weekend.
I have decided that my orc is going to be a member of he evil suns (I think that's a faction?), so I painted the face thingy on his cloaths red. It's also a complimentary colour so made sense. I shaded this with some blues and purples to add a bit of interest.
I have also worked on his trousers. I was going for a dirty khaki type effect. the use of scale 75 paints helped here with their ridiculous matt effect. The base was a brown colour but it had traces of purples in there so harmonies a bit. I highlighted with thar brown, mainly for the khaki tone, but also for some warmth and because it the same colour I used for his teeth. So more harmony. While working on this I still had the purples, blues and reds on my pallete form doing the face so I added a few nuances here and there. to help with adding interest and more colour harmony.
I was doing most of this work with a mixture of wet on wet blending and two brush blending. I sort of came to the conclusion that I favour this type of work. its quick and fun and lets the creativity take over. So yeah I think I will continue to walk down this path a little further.
Finally I blacked out the rest of the model in preparation for the metals, which I will do when I get back.
I also realised that I completely forgot to attach his shoulder pads and flag thingy when I was assembling, so I will need to try and attach and paint these at some point to.
So yeah getting there.

I got back from my holiday this weekend, so have started work on my orc again.
in truth its turning into a bit of slog - might just be the jet lag - too many fiddly details, im craving a more simple sculpt that I can concentrate on technique with, but yeah im trying to persevere.
Anyway I have started getting the metallic bits done, mainly workmen on axe at the mo. so yeah slowly getting there. but I really need to address the bits I forgot to glue on soon......
here's where he's at now though.

Keep going mate, don't give up. This guy is looking fantastic, that is a very powerful green you've got going there, and the axe looks great.
