Looks good to me, I don't think it looks too blocky in the gradients, gives a more natural looking cloth to my eyes

I feel you brother, I got the wall with video games and tv you get to an age when most things are just rehashed with a twist. on the painting side I find just Getting the brush I hand is great a wet pallet is perfect because you can just continue from where you left off. I often think why am I looking and researching all these painting things when I could just paint I know enough to just paint. my trap is to much looking not enough brush time. that's my realisation of late that and a lot of time making 3d designs.

any way it's great to visit and read up on what your up too, looking forward to seeing the blood and gore on the doc!

    Ditto this^^^

Prior to joining the forum I was working 60-80 hours a week doing project management and plant commissioning (yeah I am another ChemE). On top of this I foolishly decided to get my MBA. During this time my painting time was non existant, but I did manage to do a little painting and a lot of mini clean up and prep. My only saving grace is I have stayed away from video games as I know what would happen with my addictive attention span.

Then I decided things were too simple, so I got married and had kids...but I also joined the forum to keep my mind involved in the hobby. And even though it doesn't always seem like it I actually am able to get a few hours of painting in every month due to this forum.

So enjoy the ride and things will work out!

cheers CC glad you think its worked, and thanks for pointing it out, as that gave me extra drive to sort it out.

Thanks Canny. Yes thinking instead of doing can be a right PITA, but yeah having a wet palette is great, makes getting going really nice and easy.

indeed, it was going to be my next project, but I have made a bit of a mess building him, the parts didn't line up properly and I didn't do a very good job of bending them into shape. So im now in the process of trying to fix him up with green stuff. Shame really as its a really cool bust. I had to get him as soon Is set eyes on him.

But this one may end up being a practice piece if I cant get it fixed up well enough (im not very good at green stuff and sculpting). It will be my first bust, so maybe a practice won't be such a bad thing anyway. buttes being as I have a bit of modelling to do, I will be doing it on the side while im painting other things.

But yes im keeping him on my desk, as looking at it just makes me want to paint it so it will ensure it gets done sooner rather than later. struggling to come up with a colour scheme as well, mind you the box colours are good so may just go with those.
