That skin does look great, really like the bright greens used and that ax looks nice too although it could do with some rust

    aye

Well I guess its time for another update. Its been a good few days painting. Started to get into the zone a bit. Particular when I started working on the red bits of the gun.

I realised my mind set to blending was not quite right. I was thinking too much about the process, like what layer of shadow or light I'm working on an how far to emend the zone all such thoughts. But I realised, its far easier to look at a small section of the mini, visualise what I want the finished gradient to look like and then work towards that goal. its pretty much the same thing but thinking about ti slightly differently seems to make all the difference. (or I have just gone a bit mad )

anyway. I worked on the axe a bit adding in some battle damage and rust:

and then I worked gun one side a t a time:

I also worked on his boots a bit.

next step is to dirty up the red a bit........

This looks really great and promising! I think the gun could benefit from a bit of white'ish edge highlight.

Cheers Arkaan, I’m going to add so metalics to the edges. But hopefully they will have similar effect

Then You can add some paint scratches with brown or black and then highlight it with metallic pait making a nice transition from red paint -> undercoat -> bare metal

time for another update I reckon.

Ive been working away a bit this week so not as much painting time as I would have liked. I have mainly been working on his shoulder pads. they have been pretty hard work, I was struggling to get the blends as smooth I wanted, and paint didn't want to cover. but yeah yeah eventually got somewhere close. I'm happy enough for now. Im going to ad battle dame so I use this to cover over the ropey blends probably

so yes hers where we are at. I reckon im nearly on the home straight.....

    Righty ho, update time.

My orc is very close to the finishing line. I spent most the weekend and week refining the blends on his flag type thing and his shoulder pads. once I was happy they were smooth, i covered them over with a load of battle damage

Hind sight says I might not have needed to spend quite so long on the blends if I was just going to cover them, but also I think I have probably gone a bit too far with the battle damage. I tried the method where you use foam from a blister pack and dab it on.

Anyway that said it is an orc so scruffy works. So yes I have few minor things to do and then I'll be done I reckon.

I don't think the battle damage looks excessive on this piece. Only thing I might add is maybe add some rust to some of the spots so that it looks like some damage is older than others (if you didn't do that already)

The battle damage looks great! Are you going to scuff up his boots too?
