    http://www.coolminiornot.com/431002And finished!

    Available for rating at: http://www.coolminiornot.com/

Quite a fun model to paint as his face is full or character and quite a good likeness to the actor from the movies. I need to work on mid tone layers rather than skipping straight to highlights, but I'm reasonably happy with the results

    Nice work mate.
I recommend taking a scale photo against something (I use a lego man lol) to show how damn small LOTR minis are !

I agree with ten ball, this is excellent work! Its great to see someone else tackling LOTR/Hobbit minis here in the WIPs and the face on Pippin is really top notch. I'm looking forward to seeing what projects you tackle next!

    Hi Gorb,

This one is about 10cm / 4inches in length.

Compared to a British penny (and a bit of a thumb):

Wow, I've just noticed that I haven't posted on here this year yet!

I hope everyone's doing well! I've been ridiculously busy at work, but I've promised myself that I'd dedicate some time to paint in the evening whenever the opportunity presents.

I decided as a hobby resolution this year to spend less potential hobby time on posting, and more time painting, preferring to use Instagram to post pictures of WIP because it's quicker and easier for me.

This has helped me get more painting done, but by far and away the biggest change this year is to decide that I don't have to try and paint every model to my absolute best - truth be told it was putting me off / frustrating me when I couldn't do what I wanted. To make painting a little more fun, I decided that completing miniatures was more important to my development, so I decided I'd work on a sliding standard scale: "Board Game" (the lowest level for games like Zombicide with lots of minis and duplicate sculpts), "Table Top" (for most GW models), and "Display" (such as it is for me, where I try and do my absolute best!).

With that in mind, I thought I'd pop a quick update on here for what is effectively my "Board Game" standard Zombicide Season one zombies. All 64 started and finished in 2019 (I also finished of 28 additional zombies from expansion #1). It's almost certainly the most I've ever painted in a year, and only two months in, but it is absolutely definitely the most miniatures I've ever completed in such a short frame of time.

I'm not going to post them individually for obvious reasons, so I've just gone straight ahead and shown the season one boxed set horde all together.

It's been both motivating and satisfying to see models actually get finished, and I've definitely found I'm a quicker painter with all the practice - though it probably helps because of the duplicate sculpts!

Size: 333.4 KBWow, it's really been over a year since I last posted on here.

These days, I mostly post WIP and completed models over on Twitter and Instagram as it's just more convenient, however I thought it might be nice to just drop by and post the latest model I've completed (and the first in a while).

I started painting the Fellowship of the Ring miniatures a couple of years ago, and whilst it was always intended to be a slow burner project, it's taken far longer than anticipated!

Having finished the last miniature a few weeks ago, I decided I wanted a scenic base to display the miniatures on. I bounced a few ideas around my head about how to replicate scenes from the movie, before deciding that the basing choices I'd made didn't really fit any particular moment. At that point, I decided to depict the Fellowship travelling along a forest path, with trees and a river running by.

I've never scratch made a tree before, so this was an interesting new challenge. I made it from a wire armature, then used pollyfiller to add texture to look like bark, and eventually added the folliage. The river (which I forgot to take photo's of this morning!), was also something I've not tried before, and although you can't see it here, I think it's come out quite well.

If anyone would like to see WIP photographs of the scenic base or the tree, I can post a few I took along the way.
