Haha, what BaM said. You have a way with brown tones, so I reckon this bird is going to rock. Keep going!

In fact I think it miss some red on the darker parts.

    here is some progresses:

Now I "just" have to do the feathers and add contrast.

I started to work on the base too.
It's pretty simple as it will be displayed under a bell i bought from ikea.

A bird with a bell in a bell. I like it!
Those are some great subtle colors you've got in the red chest feathers.

Beauty film red orange -such a strong and subdued color at the same time. Eye catching !!!

The bird is looking great! Excited to see where you go with the rest of the model. Do have to say the pic with just the birds legs grabbing the trunk reminds me of looney toons, whenever there is an incident with a shotgun.

Lol, yeah I see what you mean.

It's kind of sad at the moment though.
Even with the model completely assembled it's feel incomplete to me.
I'm still thinking about what to add to it.

Maybe you should do some of that forest floor magic on the base, make it mossy and covered with leaves?

Very nice start on the bird. With tenball's piece you have now a nice piece to compete with :-)

That's the plan but I would like the trunk/branch to not look too alone on the ground, so maybe I'll add some twigs or small trunks too or something in the like.

    The bird is basically done.

And I started to work on the thinkerbell.

Coming along greatly! Love the idea of the glass bell!

Great job creating the illusion that the feathers are not just hard bits of plastic but rather soft and fluffy.

Good work, been a favorite sculpt for a long time, is it still available somewhere?

    /K
work is boring when it gets in the way of my painting.

    @Kretcher: I don't really know. I bought it a long time ago.

As always, such a pleasure seeing the work progress. It is looking fantastic, especially the feathers, and little tinkerbell too. Excited to see where you take the base.

Kretcher, you can buy it from Blacksmith Miniatures

Curious what your base design will look like once fully realized (as I never saw, or don't remember, that Star Trek episode) but you always do such a great job creating bases!
