Default A Petreon Kick starter??? WTF people. Returning Hobbyist.

AS a returning hobbyist I have been looking on the internet for guides on painting, color theory, lighting OSL, TMM, NMM, Etc. To get content from some of the better artist you have to be a petreon.

what are kick starter programs and do you get anything special for your money? Are you buying a mini before production? Do you get your money back if goal is not reached?

And are there any active mini communities as such still alive with people.

    Thanks, Stupid ME

Kickstarter campaigns are a good way to get funding for smaller businesses by gaining the funding for production “up front”.
That way the initial demand can be judged by setting a realistic target to achieve. If the target goal, is reached then the backers are charged and the supply of goods is expected as with any other contract.
(Caveat here, they have been a number of campaigns which have ‘gone sour’.)
Now with campaigns which exceed there initial funding expectation there ‘usually’ are add ons or bonuses which are made available to backers often free, but not always, sent out with the backers initial pledged items.

Now I’ve not had any bad experiences with the campaigns I’ve backed but I’m sure others can provide both positive and negative stories.

Oh and if you do back any campaigns keep a clear record of them. I just had something turn up a week ago that I had no clue as to where it came from until I did some serious digging through old emails.

Patreon is a system just like Pay For View, you support an Artist via a monthly contribution and get access to video’s or tuition for it. It’s a ‘good’ way for Professional Artists to get a ‘regular’ income in a “niche market”.
