Default I have lost all faith in this company.

CMON has put out some really great games over the years. Wrath of kings is still one of my favorite systems and believe it has so much potential. There is such a huge community for it yet they dropped all support for it. All they care about is money and pumping out new games they will never support in the future. So glad I spent $200 on WoK stuff this last sale. FUCK c'mon, I will never buy a product or recommend their games to anyone ever again because in a year they wont be played. What a joke of a company.

I watched a podcast not so long ago about how WOK is actually in a good place. While it appears CMON has dropped support for the game, models are still available, and the game is balanced.

A board game which is available to buy, is good fun, and is balanced, but hasn't had an expansion in a year or 10 is still great, but a table top game in the same situation is somehow not worth buying into and the company who created it are the scum of the earth for not releasing a new stuff....

I'd like to see a pair of new armies invading the kings lands now the siblings are at war, and new units for all, but if they never come, I've still got a great game which is easy to teach others.

I argee with Mr Pie Chee. WoK has transitioned into boardgame category - lets face it. But - it did only for those who has two or more armies (complete or even comparable). Its like MtG when you stop participating in tournaments and buying new sets - you have a couple of decks and can flip the cards with your friend occasionally.

It happens. What can we done. in fact - we can. Some community editions, fan campaign systems, fan missions, etc.

What do you recon counts as comparable to a complete army? (You have one of everything except the two box you don't really like the look of/You can field a battle size armies for two factions, which gives you acceptable variety for skirmishes/Three starter boxes plus one box of something for each for patrol size engagements etc.)
I'm looking at WoK with some interest, and I'm thinking of patrol/skirmish size engagements. It looks like to me that the few boxes I have will get me a nice enough variety (especially if campaigns and homebrew missions come into the picture), but please correct me if I'm wrong!

This sucks. I just discovered WoK last week and was wanting to start buying into the game and build up a Goritsi army. Are they going to keep making the stuff they already have designed and laid out? As in will the 2 player starter box be coming back in stock on their web store? Or will there never be another one made?

I doubt they'll rerelease that box.
But if you can wait until black friday (+a month until it ships) you can buy them at 80% off. (At least it was like that for the last 2 years). For example starter box for $14 instead of $70.
    Forgot, that it works again.

I might grab the Honor and treachery box as soon as it restocks. and maybe some Peligraths and war dancers. Then buy the rest then.

So just an odd thought I had. I wonder if CMON would be willing to sell the rights to Wrath of Kings, and if so how much it would cost? And what would be needed to get the game back up and running?
Obviously a 3rd book with new miniatures, each faction had a perviously unreformed subjection (as it seems each of the 5 main factions has 3 sub factions) so giving that third subsection some love would help.

Possibly introducing a 6th faction some sort of existential threat the ancient king was weary of returning which is why he set up the system he did to strengthen his children in his absence. Something akin to the underlie faeries of old Celtic myth, or a spirit world enemy to the elementals and celestials? or Those would be 2 subsections found within them? Either way...this is not needed but might give returning players something more to bite into. Or it could be more dangerous to the narrative.

What else might help if someone could get the License to continue the game?

The 2017 black Friday sale had Gotha knights, warhounds and titans go out of stock, but all were back for 2018 sale, so I would guess cmon have every intention of continuing to produce models.

Rumors suggest that the 3rd book has all the content lined up, but no time to put it together and release it. Massive shame as I feel with a little advertising the game could do really well. The free ebook and YouTube videos got me into the game - a string of weekly battles on YouTube and a continuation of the storyline would do wonders for expanding the community. Keeping the blog/website up to date would be a great start!

I'd love to see a new army or two - I seem to remember the east of the world map has some potential to harbor another civilization. While the king was alive they could have been no threat at all, but with his death and the division of his kingdom they could creep back. I was thinking a largely inferior army with seige weapons and very poor magic (lacking in rank two units and no magic on defense chart).

An 'unseen evil' returning, or indeed the elementals of old would be interesting. A new list of motivations with a new army would be interesting too. I have to say the motivation system is my favourite part of the game, so leaving it as is isn't an issue if it means not breaking it.

Love to see new leaders for all armies, and all army subfractions brought up to three infantry choices. Also would be nice to see a bigger army size for friendly games with extra leaders added into the option choices along with specialists and infantry (take up three or four infantry ranks?). Patrol > skirmish > battle > seige? It would mostly be there for friendly games, since it's going to be too time consuming for tournaments.

It would also be nice to see Gotha knights and Gatekeepers on bigger bases. I guess this would require some rules tweaks, but currently the official models look silly on the bases they are supplied with.

Loads of scope for expanding, but skirmish games still seem the best and fairly endless in entertainment value as far as a single game could go. Having three armies with 24 odd ranks of infantry and 6 ranks of specialists gives you loads of flexibility for many many games. And waiting for those sales to pick up extras isn't much of an ask to expand way beyond the replay ability of a normal board game.

Maybe even 2 more ways to play on top of that.
War - 6+ ranks of leaders 6 Ranks of infantry per leader, 4 ranks of specialist, and 2 option choices for every leader above 3 but 2 Motivations one from each category your army can use are taken. It would be recommended to for each player to have 2 different color counters to track their motivation progresses. I'd really need to think and develop this.
Asymmetric - Both players agree on a base game size (up to say Siege) For every specialist or 3 ranks of infantry that a player sacrifices they gain 1 extra moral to start the game. This level might be good for games where one player is still building their collection and doesn't quiet have everything they need. Also a good way to give another player a handy cap.

Growth - This is good for a league or group that is starting. Each player picks one leader that leader becomes their force commander. They get 6 ranks of infantry with the same keyword, and 1 specialist of their choice. As they play games depending on their wins/losses they can buy more infantry, more leaders or specialists. There may or may not be upgrades force commanders commander can buy in leu of adding to their force. I'd need to think it over, and pick people's brains before I committed to more than something like.... Wins grant 3 points, losses grant 1
3 ranks infantry cost 1 point
    Leaders cost 2 per rank
    Specialists cost 3 per rank

    I like it

While extra modes of play won't get used by everyone they are great ways to grow the community. Escalation leagues and campaign play is great for stores with gaming tables, and larger games are great for friends with a weekend free!

Not to harsh on the OP, because I get that he likes WoK, but like Runebound, this one was coming from a mile away.

WoK, to me, was another attempt at a Confrontation style game, with everything dooming its fail set up at launch. Predominantly the material of their figures. It was already going into a storm of other fantasy skirmish game, and then the support for it just seemed to be matched with its lack of popularity.

I'm not saying it isn't a good game, but I think it was rather predictable what happene. And the good news is if you like it and have friends who keep playing it, then while it would be better if supported, it really won't have been a waste.
