Default Night’s Watch Stone Thrower: Firing once per round

The Nights Watch Stone Thrower card states that it ‘may only be used once per round’.

This suggests that the Tactics board (and Tactics cards + NCU abilities) can not be used to generate a 2nd attack?

OK, but it severely limits a 10pt unit and I’m not aware that anything else is immune to the Tactics Board?

    Am I missing something?

    Thanks

No easy dice role too difficult......

No you're not missing anything. It is costed as such because it can be potentially game-changing. It can deal auto-Wounds to any enemy, anywhere on the table, from round one.

For example, on turn one of round one it can deal 8 Wounds to a unit of Flayed Men and that's before their Panic Test. If the defender rolls snake eyes on that test then that unit is wiped out.

If this unit were cheaper it would be in every list.
    Chaos is a ladder.

the ranged attack can only be used once per round. theres no limit on its melee.

Can be fired once per round means it can be fired once per round. If this rule did not exist to specifically limit how many times it could fire it would literally serve no purpose.

As Dean said, you're not missing anything. I was involved in a 100pts-a-side game today, facing two Stonethrowers. The first one took a shot at my full unit of Veterans of the Watch, successfully rolled to hit and then proceeded to roll a 6 which coupled with the remaining ranks gave a total of 9 wounds. Whilst that was probably the most devastating attack from either of them during the game, when they did hit they managed an average of 4-7 wounds.

Allowing one of these beasts to have a second shot would be game-changing for sure.

Sorry to chime in as well.

But you mentioned that you are not aware of anything else that is "immune" to the Tactics board.

Ned's honour guard. They don't take panic checks. If you crown zap them. They still don't.

Kingsguard. They can't heal. If you target them with the Wealth Zone. They still don't heal.

Scorpion. They can't retreat. If you target them with the horses.... Yep... They still can't retreat.

You're right on the other two counts, but Ned's Honor Guard still take Panic checks - they just can't get Panicked or suffer penalties to their morale.
