Spent a small fortune in GW today on paints and figures. Have a few projects on the go including this Thousand Sons marine. I bought the box set as I thought they looked ace. Will paint this one first to get a feel then I have plans for a diorama featuring the Aspiring Sorcerer.

A little more work on the Marine this evening. A ways to go though. Those stripes on the helmet crest will be a nice bright yellow eventually and of course I've to highlight the eyes. As you can see I've decided to reverse the GW paint job in that the armour details will have a bone finish rather than gold and the bone elements will be gold. I've been reading a lot about Egyptian history and while they did deal in a lot of gold they also, certainly where burial was concerned, dealt in a lot of bone crafted idols and the like. I wanted to reflect that here.

Your Gandalf is great ! Painting white can be hard and you did it well. Also good start about this chaos boy, your freehand is very clean.

Granted not done much since my last update, been a bit busy (and yes I'm still using a dry palette for the time being). Got some free time this evening so hopefully should get a lot more done.

Thanks, gorb. Between work at the hospital and Christmas I've been too busy to do any painting. Hopefully I can get back to it soon!
I can imagine working at a hospital is currently quite tough. Resting during painting might not worke these days.

It's not too bad, but it has its moments! I've managed to paint a bit more this evening and even though I'm working this weekend I'll get some more done. That being said I've 8 days off beginning 2nd of Jan so with Christmas out of the way I can focus on painting my minis.
That was tough, but very enjoyable.

Thanks, buddy! I must admit, after such a long break I do feel that things are beginning to fall into place again. Always room for improvement, such is the hobby, but yeah, feeling good about my mini painting again.
A dear friend has asked me to paint him Tzeentch, The Lord of Change that he's bought himself as a Christmas present. Quite the challenge! My brushes are ready!

My current project is for a friend. Demon Lord of Tzeentch. God damn it's a big figure! However, was pleasantly surprised at how little filling it needed as it fits together extremely well. A far cry from the large metal figures of old.
What a beast! And yep - confirmed, the parts fit together quite well for big pieces. And smaller gaps can be filled just by using the plastic-glue.
No more fixing with green-stuff or additional nails to keep arms in position etc.
I did use some green stuff, particularly around the wings as gaps were quite obvious. I also pinned him to his base. Guess I'm old school.
