    THE BACKGROUND:

Since the time of the first Phoenix King, the Dragon Spine Mountains have been home have been home to many great creatures, though over the ages the great slumber had consumed many of them. Lately, a rousing has occurred across the range, and once winged shapes who have become otherwise unknown are soaring through the air once again, looking for easy prey to increase in their size and strength.

A strange relationship has developed amongst the elves and dragons, and dragons now find themselves compelled to defend their pointy eared brethren when combat calls. Most dragons, because of their residence in in the Dragon Spine Mountains, have tended to flock to the High Elves, though some will fly far afield to serve their darker or greener cousins as well.

AT CMON: VIINTHURYOL, YOUNG FIRE DRAGON

    Background:

The chill winds blew across the mountains, carrying the voice of father winter as its message to the world. It was strange then that Viinthuryol felt so alive. He had awoken from a slumber with a pressing need to take flight, to search... for something. He could not quite put his mind to it, but the pull was ever present to keep him skimming across the sky. He was young, for a dragon, having less then a thousand years since his hatching. Without a sense of time, he had no idea how many years had passed since his latest slumber. He had grown some, he knew that much, for when he worked his way out of the deep cave that he called his home it was a tight fit.

In the distance he saw a small goat herd. Banking high, he dipped suddenly to swiftly drop to the ground and quickly snatched a small goat in his sharp teeth. Gliding a small distance off, he dropped the now dead body on the ground. With a great inhalation, a ball of flame quickly erupted to roast the delicacy. Even in this small time, the sense of pulling came back strongly, so he ate quickly and was soon air bound again. He would find the source of this calling.

    FIRBURBIRE, YOUNG FIRE DRAGON

The young dragons of the world are the most common, and the most aggressive. These dragons are the ones typically found in knightly tales of when heroic young nobles embark upon quests to slay the evil beasts and save virgin princesses. As dragons grow, they become solitary creatures due in most part because it takes a lot to keep a dragon appropriately fed. But, in their younger years, small flights of dragons have been seen flying of flocks of sheep in the early hours of the day. Younger dragons do not typically hibernate as much either, being much more awake and in the world of the living. It is around 300 years before a dragon grows to a hibernation age, and in those first 300 years they can be very destructive to the land around them.

Firburbire, and his brother and sister, have lived a fairly spoiled life, as the elves in the lands surrounding their mountain cave intentionally drive sheep and cattle into the valley to keep them fed.
