Default Big Mek Stompa

Ya know, once you build something big for the orks, you just gotta keep going. This time I\'m cooking up a Big Mek Stompa for my Apocalypse army. I\'ve never been a huge fan of the \"big dress\", or bell shaped ork stompas/gargants and I don\'t even feel bad. They look alright but just not stompy enough, although I\'ll most likely build one of that type down the road. I want something that looks a little more menacing and mobile - even if the stats don\'t agree with it.

I was also particularly inspired by a few stompas posted here in the last few months that have broken from that typical flower pot style but I can\'t find them right now.

I\'ve hade these two models sitting in my basment for years, as the layer of dust will attest.

I had all intentions of building them as is, the Thunderbolt (Gartan) is my favorite Battletech bot next to the original Marauder and Rifleman. The Battlemaster is smaller that the T-Bolt in this iteration and will be relegated to another project.

I\'ll be modifying them to become a Big Mek Stompa and a regular stompa. The size of the T-Bolt is inbetween stompa and gargant so I\'ll err on the side of small and if I build anything larger, I\'ll make it a gargant. So, Big Stompa it is.

Here\'s a few shots showing the boys loitering around the work area for scale. This one\'s gonn be more fun than the battlewagon.

I actually have a model like that kicking about in my bitz bin.

I looked at the legs and thought if I ever did anything with it, I\'d make it a giant pseudo-marine; as though the orks, in an attempt to mock their superhuman rivals, built a giant (and obviously orky) version of their enemies to stomp them with. Sort\'ve in the same vein as the old tinboyz from editions gone by, that were made to look like other races as a way of insulting them.

The tinboyz are what I had in mind as well - groovy models but I\'m looking for some scare/mean factor to add. This could double as super/mega Terminator in style too - to mock da humies.
