Hopefully, this little article will help you with some weathering techniques for both metal and nmm painting styles.
For this article I will be mainly using citadel colour, with the exeption of vallejo smoke.
I know this isnt an article about nmm, so it may not help with the theory of nmm, but it is mainly for nmm colour reference.

nmm weathering

I primed this mini in black, and covered any missed areas with watered down black paint:

I then made a mix of scorched brown, enchanted blue, snot green and water:
(6:2:2:1, respectively)

and painted this thinly onto the metalic areas.

I then mixed in a little bestial brown into this mix and put this on the areas that most of the light would hit the model.

This is what it looks like on the pallette:

I mixed a wash of enchanted blue, snot green and a spot of skull white with water.
(5:5:1:9)

I washed this all over the metal areas. do not worry if it looks messy, as it will look good when it is dry.

This is what it looks like once it is completely dry.
Dont try to blow dry it, as the wash will run out of place.

I re-painted most of the metallic areas with the scorched-bestial mix, leaving the 'green' wash in the recesses.

I'm loving it, too bad you didn't add for steel colored metal... I guess one can't do it all ... keep it up!

Awesome article. Seems fool proof. I can't wait to try it myself and mess it up. I disagree with the pictures being too big. Maybe they could use some cropping but that's just being picky.

Really nice article and I will be giving it a go for sure. Good advice on cropping the pics and reposting them...not just for those with slower connections but also it makes it really hard to have a good look and work it out proportionally. Makes me want to grab my screen like a book and hold it away from me. But that is a minor detail. The meat and bones of the article was spot on. Nice showing the wet palette for those who need to see the consistancy of your paint before it goes to brush. I hope you post some more tutes.

Very nice. I'm impressed with the concise instructions. I'll be trying this out soon.
Something I'd like to see is something about using wet palletes. So far I haven't found anyone who uses them locally. Even if it's as simple as "this is a wet pallete go use it" I think it would show a lot of people (me) something interesting and new.

good, but i personally prefer giving the areas to be oxidized a thin wash of white before i add the the blue green mix.

Pretty cool article, well set out, but DAMN those pics are huge. Maybe you should think about cropping and shrinking them.

Very nice, the techniques are actually simple enough to use on a lot of models at once; I aspecially like the second one. Thanks for the effort.
