I look at this and realise just how bad my painting was and still is, but thought I would see if there is anything from this that can be taken and built on.
The freehand at the bottom of the cloak/robe shows that you have definitely have something to build on. I don't think this is as bad as it's score makes out. I would suggest going back to it and adding a little more detail and highlighting. Most importantly, if you want better scores, have a go at basing it. It took me a long time to get the courage to try but it's actually very easy and makes a huge difference to the overall appearance of the model. PVA on the top of the base, dip it in sand and paint in dark brown and drybrush lighter. Even flock would help.
I think your paint is too thick. Mix it with 1 part paint to 5-8 parts water, and apply thin layers. Also, on the metallics, using a brown ink or brown wash will help give it some depth. Blacklining can also help give you some 'pop'. Keep at it!!
