I love the dynamic use of the base for this figure. Your use of thinned down paints is really helping the overall look as well, so stick with that. The only advice I would offer is perhaps working on removing the pewter base from the figure before attaching it to the stone (easier said then done I know). Otherwise, I like it. Keep it up.
Thinning your paints is definitely helping. I like the tentacles on the base. The cape looks pretty good too. I do think the pic needs to be a bit closer though.
